About the Team:
Our Product Design team is organized into a series of product pillars, where multiple teams contribute to the goals of a larger mission. This role sits within our Data Infrastructure pillar, a space where design has an outsized impact on how our data platform is understood, adopted, and built upon. You'll be leading design for a domain that sits at the intersection of complex technical systems and the product experiences they power, working closely with infrastructure and platform teams to shape how data capabilities translate into intuitive, scalable product experiences. Please note that this is a hybrid role that requires 3 days/week onsite in our Boston office. Fully remote candidates will not be considered at this time.
About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Design Manager to lead design for our Data Infrastructure pillar, empowering your team to do some of the most technically nuanced and consequential design work at Klaviyo. In this role, you will manage a team of designers and be responsible for craft, quality, and the strategic vision that connects platform capabilities to customer outcomes. You are expected to utilize your full range of people management, product strategy, interaction design, and systems thinking skills, moving fast with strong judgment, developing a clear POV, and shaping outcomes in close partnership with the product teams who own the surfaces that your platform and work influences.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and grow a team of designers working across a technically complex domain, maintaining a high bar for craft, clarity, and consistency even in ambiguous problem spaces
- Model and champion an AI-native way of working, actively experimenting with and integrating AI tools into your design and leadership practice and helping your team do the same
- Develop and champion a clear design vision for the Data Infrastructure pillar, connecting the technical and data layer to real customer impact and product direction
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders across engineering, product, data, and platform teams, building relationships proactively and driving alignment across stakeholders
- Navigate technically complex spaces with confidence, translating infrastructure and data concepts into experiences that are intuitive for end users
- Advocate for design's role in platform and infrastructure decisions, communicating strategy, vision, and progress clearly to a range of audiences
- Foster a culture of craft, curiosity, learning, and care, coaching and supporting your team's growth and their output
- Ensure accessibility and inclusivity by aligning work with WCAG standards and universal design principles
Who You Are:
- Experience in product design within technically complex domains, ideally with exposure to infrastructure, platform, or data-layer products and an understanding of how they shape and influence the customer experience
- Experience growing, coaching, and managing a high-performing, inclusive, and diverse team, with a genuine investment in people's development
- Demonstrated ability to develop a strong POV and design strategy, and to execute against it with measurable impact in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Able to think big while staying action-oriented, breaking vision into clear priorities, milestones, and roadmaps
- An AI-native approach to your work, actively leveraging AI tools to improve the quality, speed, and impact of your practice. You bring genuine curiosity and a habit of continuous experimentation, and you raise the bar for how your team and peers think about and adopt AI in their own work
- Strong systems thinker who can zoom out to see patterns across a complex product surface and zoom in to uphold quality at the detail level
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional partners and drive decisions without direct ownership, building trust and alignment through relationships and clear communication
- Deep experience with Figma, component architecture, and design systems thinking as it applies to platform and infrastructure contexts
- Strong knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG compliance
- Excellent communication skills, able to present a clear narrative to technical and non-technical audiences alike and lead effectively through influence
