At Raytheon our Principal Strategy Specialist is responsible for executing a wide range of high‑value internal and external projects that enhance the strategic interests of Raytheon, its Business Units, and RTX. This role reports to the Director of the Raytheon Partnerships Accelerator.
This role will span across strategy evaluations, idea generation, analytical assessments, and decision support for corporate development initiatives, strategic partnerships, and other non‑traditional external relationships, and will provide exposure to Raytheon’s collaboration with RTX Ventures and their portfolio companies.
What You Will Do
- Lead and support strategic evaluations, including opportunity assessments and idea generation.
- Conduct analytical assessments and deliver decision‑support materials for senior leadership.
- Execute initiatives related to corporate development, strategic partnerships, and external relationships beyond traditional customer‑supplier or prime‑subcontractor engagements.
- Engage with the Raytheon Partnerships Accelerator under the direction of the Director, contributing to strategy development and project execution.
- Collaborate with RTX Ventures and portfolio companies, including identifying and advancing ideas for pilot projects, new collaborations, experiments, and new value‑creation opportunities.
- Facilitate partnership discussions between senior Raytheon technical and business leaders and external companies.
- Support the evaluation of merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
What You Will Learn
This role provides hands‑on experience with business‑shaping strategies, including M&A, divestitures, and strategic partnerships that influence Raytheon’s long‑term direction. You’ll gain meaningful exposure to how major strategic decisions are evaluated and executed across the enterprise, while developing a broad understanding of Raytheon’s organizational structure, product portfolio, and parts of the wider RTX ecosystem.
You will also build skills in business‑to‑business engagement, value‑creation strategies, complex negotiations, and deal‑making—strengthening overall business acumen and strategic thinking. Employees in this role typically participate in external professional development programs that provide formal training in M&A and divestiture strategy and execution.
This hybrid role is based near the following locations: Woburn, MA; Arlington VA; Farmington, CT; McKinney, TX; or Tucson, AZ. Relocation assistance is not provided.
Some travel may be required.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5+ years’ prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3+ years’ experience.
- Proven experience developing strategic business cases and conducting related decision analyses.
- Demonstrated success in planning, executing, tracking, and reporting complex projects.
- Strong financial modeling capabilities, including pro‑forma business modeling, transaction valuation analysis, and discounted cash flow (DCF) techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools—especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word—as well as familiarity with research and financial data platforms such as FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, and Bloomberg.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- Strong business acumen related to capital markets, key business metrics, and strategic value drivers for both public and private companies.
- Experience within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Exposure to investment banking, strategy consulting, or private equity activities.
- Experience analyzing and supporting corporate development initiatives and strategic partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior executive leadership.
- Proven versatility, ranging from detailed task execution to leading team efforts.
- Demonstrated success working across business functions to build relationships and lead without direct authority.
- Strong listening, influencing, and persuasion skills.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
