The Principal Solutions Engineer leads customer engagements, collaborates with executives, drives technical strategies, and influences product development for Atlassian's Enterprise Strategy and Planning portfolio.
As a Principal Solutions Engineer, you will be a senior member of Atlassian's go-to-market team, shaping how the world's largest organizations design and scale their strategy execution systems. This is a highly strategic role responsible for leading the most complex and high-impact customer engagements, influencing product direction, and serving as a subject matter expert and thought leader for Atlassian's Enterprise Strategy and Planning portfolio (Jira Align, Focus, Talent).
You'll work closely with C-level stakeholders, develop solution strategies that span organizational silos, and help define how Atlassian partners with customers on their transformation journeys. This role also includes mentoring peers and helping scale best practices across the broader pre-sales organization.

To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $190,800 - $249,100
Zone B: $171,900 - $224,425
Zone C: $158,400 - $206,800
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, helping shape vision and value strategies for enterprise-wide planning and transformation initiatives.
- Own and drive technical win strategy for large and strategic accounts, partnering closely with sales counterparts and executive sponsors.
- Design and deliver tailored value based solution demonstrations and solution narratives that articulate how Atlassian's ESP offerings solve real business problems in the context of Atlassian's System of Work
- Proactively partner with strategic account executives to align on pipeline, opportunities, customer needs, and feedback - continuously improving the sales cycle together.
- Architect holistic, scalable solutions that drive alignment between business strategy and agile execution across portfolios, teams, and talent.
- Lead transformational conversations around operating models, organizational design, value streams, and outcome-driven planning practices.
- Collaborate with sales, product, ecosystem partners and customer success teams to develop solution strategies that maximize customer value.
- Lead RFPs/RFIs, business case development, and technical validation activities (POCs, workshops, etc.).
- Facilitate executive workshops, maturity assessments, and solution roadmaps aligned to business KPIs and value realization.
- Influence product and go-to-market strategies by bringing market feedback and customer insights to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to internal enablement, mentoring, and elevating solution engineering practices across the team.

- >10+ years in a senior pre-sales or solution consulting role focused on complex enterprise solutions.
- Deep experience advising C-level executives in enterprise transformation, planning, or portfolio agility initiatives.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect enterprise business objectives to solution design and product capabilities.
- Exceptional storytelling, executive facilitation, and communication skills across business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large pursuits, influence deal strategy, and navigate complex customer organizations.
- Strong understanding of enterprise planning domains such as strategy execution, portfolio management, enterprise agility, or OKR frameworks
- Experience with enterprise work management, workforce planning or outcomes management solutions is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with operating model design Agile@Scale, Lean/Strategic Portfolio Management, OKRs, and outcome-based planning.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Technology, or related field.
