Who we are
At Fortis Games we aspire to make great games that bring people together while redefining how game companies work. We believe in building a sense of belonging through our games, their communities, and how we operate and treat each other. Through our game communities, we will create powerful connections and lasting memories. We will foster a culture of diversity, equity and belonging where together our diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds impact the games we make.
We are an early but mighty organization with a leadership team of game industry veterans. There are many opportunities for you to have a big impact on the products we'll be making as well as the overall direction of the company. If you're passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.

About the role

As a Staff Product Manager on our Game Tools team, you’ll own the core game systems that underpin every game at Fortis, spanning player experience as well as the architecture and tooling that supports it. You'll work across player accounts, compliance, social systems, and others, bringing clarity and direction to a wide, complex surface area. You'll partner closely with engineering, game teams, and partner teams to cut through ambiguity, set sharp priorities, and ship the right things.

What you’ll achieve

  • Define and own the product strategy for core game systems including player accounts, compliance, social, and other systems.
  • Help shape the social layer of our games (e.g. referral systems, chat, guilds) turning our games into places where real communities form.
  • Build deep working relationships with leadership across game and partner teams, bridging business goals and technical execution.
  • Take on the hardest prioritization calls when the team is being pulled in multiple directions, bringing structure and calm to competing priorities.
  • Connect your pod's work to the broader platform strategy and communicate progress clearly to senior stakeholders."

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Track record of independently owning complex products end-to-end, with sharp prioritization in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience working on consumer-facing services (accounts, identity, or social systems) ideally at scale.
  • Enough technical depth to engage credibly with engineers on system design and tradeoffs, without needing to be the expert in the room.
  • Strong cross-functional instincts, you build alignment across teams that don't naturally agree and ship reliably at quality.
  • Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations with competing priorities, knowing which problems to solve first and why.
  • Clear, confident communicator with experience presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in or supporting game development (especially free-to-play mobile or other scaled consumer apps) strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on curiosity about AI and agentic workflows. You've experimented with these tools, have a point of view on where they create real value, and can help a team embed them meaningfully.

Why join us
There are many reasons to join us, but here are a few:

  • We strongly believe we are changing how games studios operate and at the core of what we do is making great games that create a connected community
  • We're not just about making Games Where You Belong. We're also about building communities where our people belong. That's why Fortis is a thriving environment that celebrates diversity, embraces inclusivity, and fosters growth.
  • Build and grow with a seasoned team of accomplished talent who have left an impactful mark in their disciplines, both in and out of gaming

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
