Position Summary

In cybersecurity, the difference between winning and losing a deal often comes down to clarity, who can articulate their strengths fastest, anticipate objections most precisely, and make the technically complex feel inevitable.

That's what this role is built to do.

As Principal Competitive Intelligence & Technical Marketing Manager at Delinea, you'll be the strategic engine behind how we define, communicate, and defend our differentiation in the identity security market. You'll combine rigorous competitive analysis with compelling technical storytelling to sharpen how sales teams position our platform and why customers choose us over alternatives.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing. You'll own the competitive intelligence function end-to-end while serving as a trusted technical voice for deals, launches, and market positioning.

This role reports to the VP of Product Marketing and is fully remote (US-based), with up to 20% travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve our core “why we win” narrative

  • Translate product architecture and capabilities into clear, differentiated technical messaging

  • Lead competitive analysis, threat assessment, and positioning strategy

  • Develop battlecards and enable sales with actionable competitive insights

  • Conduct win/loss analysis to identify systemic improvement opportunities

  • Support strategic deals with competitive and technical guidance

  • Partner with Product on roadmap insights informed by market shifts

Skills and Experience
  • 8+ years in Technical Marketing, Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, or related roles

  • Strong technical fluency and ability to simplify complex concepts

  • Experience supporting enterprise sales cycles

  • Analytical rigor paired with strategic judgment

  • Ability to operate independently in a high-ownership environment

Why work at Delinea?

  • We're passionate problem-solvers helping the world's largest organizations protect what matters most: their human and machine identities.

  • We invest in people who are smart, self-motivated, and collaborative.

  • What we offer in return is meaningful work, a culture of innovation and great career progression.

At Delinea, our core values are STRONG and guide our behaviors and success:

We take care of our employees. We offer competitive salaries, a meaningful bonus program, and excellent benefits, including healthcare insurance, as well as pension/retirement matching, comprehensive life insurance, an employee assistance program, time off plans, and paid company holidays.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
