Job Description
Role OverviewThe Principal, Office 365 Collaboration & Work Management Platforms is the technical and strategic owner of Vertex’s collaboration, productivity, and work management ecosystem. This role partners directly with business and IT stakeholders to understand business goals, translate them into scalable technical solutions, and continuously modernize how work gets done across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on subject matter expert in Microsoft 365 (including Copilot and AI-driven capabilities) with strong portfolio and work management expertise. They bring a consultative mindset, can operate comfortably with senior stakeholders, and balance governance, stability, and innovation.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Partnership & Solution Design- Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leaders, leading discovery sessions to understand business needs and translate them into practical, scalable platform solutions.
- Provide senior-level guidance on portfolio, program, and project management practices enabled by M365 and work management platforms.
- Serve as technical owner and subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Entra ID, and Copilot.
- Define and execute the platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives, security requirements, and emerging capabilities (AI, automation).
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle (strategy, administration, governance, and optimization) for Smartsheet, Asana, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Project.
- Design standardized templates, intake workflows, portfolio dashboards, and reporting frameworks that support visibility and scale.
- Establish and operate clear governance models (provisioning standards, access models, lifecycle management, audit readiness).
- Ensure reliable platform operations, including incident and change management, release coordination, and vendor engagement.
- Define and track service performance metrics (adoption, usage, stability, and business outcomes) and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead enablement efforts including documentation, training, office hours, and communications to ensure effective and consistent platform usage.
- Drive adoption of AI and automation features where they deliver measurable productivity and collaboration benefits.
- Deep, hands-on expertise administering and governing enterprise Microsoft 365 environments, including Copilot and security controls.
- Strong experience with portfolio, project, or work management platforms (Smartsheet, Asana, Planner, Project).
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and influence stakeholders toward standard, scalable approaches.
- Experience operating enterprise SaaS platforms with a focus on governance, stability, security, and adoption.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working with both technical teams and senior business leaders.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 6 years experience owning or leading enterprise collaboration, productivity, or work management platforms, with demonstrated progression in scope, influence, and responsibility.

Pay Range:
$144,000 - $216,000Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
