The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for supporting the management, monitoring, and reporting of the Commercial Loan Portfolio. This position assists with portfolio analytics, quality assurance, risk monitoring, financial and covenant tracking, construction portfolio administration, and data management activities. The Portfolio Analyst works closely with Commercial Lending, Credit Administration, Loan Operations, and Portfolio Management to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of portfolio information while supporting strategic decision-making through reporting and analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management
- Monitor and track financial statement reporting requirements, covenant compliance, and other loan-related obligations.
- Assist with portfolio monitoring activities including delinquent and matured loans, line of credit renewals, construction status reporting, concentration monitoring, and other risk management initiatives.
- Assist in overseeing loans and projects within the construction portfolio, including budget monitoring, advance tracking, general ledger reconciliation, and Board reporting support.
- Prepare loan modification, extension, and portfolio maintenance forms.
- Assist with document gathering and portfolio reviews associated with loan sales, participations, pledged assets, examinations, audits, and regulatory requests.
- Review, validate, correct, analyze, and maintain portfolio data to ensure data integrity and support accurate reporting, portfolio monitoring, risk management, and management decision-making.
- Process and maintain customer financial information and loan documentation within Bank systems, including nCino, Document Manager, and other applicable platforms.
- Perform ongoing maintenance and quality control of portfolio management records, electronic files, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of portfolio reporting, dashboards, data repositories, and analytical tools utilized by Portfolio Management and Commercial Lending.
- Help identify trends, exceptions, and data quality issues through analysis of portfolio information and reporting outputs.
- Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio monitoring and management reports.
- Assist with the department's Quality Assurance Program to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness within the commercial loan portfolio.
- Support management reporting requirements through data compilation, analysis, dashboard maintenance, and report preparation.
- Participate in portfolio reviews, data validation exercises, and reporting improvement initiatives.
- Assist with reviewing, maintaining, and enhancing department procedures and workflows.
- Support process improvement, automation, and technology initiatives designed to improve efficiency, accuracy, and data governance.
- Participate in department projects, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional efforts.
- Assist management with special projects, ad hoc reporting requests, and other portfolio management responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Prior banking, commercial lending, credit administration, portfolio management, accounting, or financial analysis experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of commercial loan documentation, financial statements, and lending regulations preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, charts, dashboards, lookups, and data integration.
- Experience utilizing SharePoint and other data management platforms to organize, maintain, and analyze information.
- Experience with Power BI, reporting tools, or business intelligence platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with nCino, DocStar, core banking systems, or similar lending platforms preferred.
- Ability to work with large datasets while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to identify trends, inconsistencies, and exceptions within portfolio data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
