JOB SUMMARY

This job supports the Highmark Pharmacy Services organization and, specifically, the Pharmacy Contract Consultant, in the negotiation, development and execution of pharmacy and applicable vendor contracts.    Additionally, the incumbent will collaborate with Pharmacy Services vendor management team to oversee external vendor performance.  The incumbent will regularly collaborate with the Pharmacy Contract Consultant and other internal business units (e.g., legal, procurement and privacy) and external vendor partners (e.g., Pharmacy Benefit Manager, Specialty Pharmacies) to help manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including contract renewals, negotiations, terminations and amendments as needed by the business.  In the course of assisting with management of the portfolio of pharmacy and applicable vendor contracts, the incumbent interfaces with other organization stakeholders in order to maximize value and mitigate risk to the organization. In addition, the incumbent will help partner with the Pharmacy Services leadership team on contracting initiates related to specific team business needs in support of the overall organization’s strategic pharmacy contracting portfolio.  Other related job functions include but are not limited to the identification of relevant contract language, proactively monitoring the terms of contracts and documenting compliance with those terms, responding to contract disclosure requests to support external audit activities, contract maintenance and storage and support of pharmacy and related RFPs. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the management of the Pharmacy Services contract portfolio including contract development, negotiation, renewal, termination, execution and hard copy/electronic storage.

  • Interface with the Organization’s stakeholders in the management of the pharmacy and vendor contract portfolio in order to maximize value and mitigate risk to the organization. 

  • Partner with the Pharmacy Services leadership team on contracting initiatives related to specific team business needs in support of the overall organization’s strategic pharmacy contracting portfolio.  

  • Support review and execution of amendments, additions, deletions to all contract documents.

  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Services vendor management team to oversee external vendor performance.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration Management, Supply Chain, Finance or related field or three years of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.

  • 3 years of Contract development

Preferred

  • 3 years in the Healthcare industry

  • 3 years in Managed Care

  • 3 years of Pharmacy benefit management

  • 3 years in Procurement

Pay Range Minimum:

$68,400.00

Pay Range Maximum:

$105,900.00

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations.  The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
