Our Story

TopDog Law is not your typical law firm. We're a nationally scaling personal injury firm built for impact and growth, growing the client experience end-to-end, from marketing and intake through litigation. We believe that world-class marketing, paired with exceptional legal talent and operations, creates better experiences and outcomes for clients and the business alike.

Over the past three years, we've grown 2–3x year over year, setting a new standard on the marketing side of the personal injury space and proving what's possible when strategy, speed, and execution align. Now we're applying that same discipline and innovation to firm operations, case management, and national scale,  intentionally building the infrastructure, systems, and teams to grow without sacrificing quality, culture, or accountability.

We are a fully remote team that share trust, open communication, and a commitment to doing great work. If you love ownership, thrive in a fast-moving environment, and want to help build something exceptional, you'll feel right at home here.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to join a high-growth firm at a formative stage and do meaningful People work that directly shapes how employees experience TopDog every day. You will work alongside the Director of People Operations, a Talent Acquisition Coordinator, and a People Operations Coordinator, serving as the connective tissue that keeps the engine running across the full employee lifecycle. As the firm scales nationally, so does the scope of this role. The work you build and systematize now will set the foundation for how TopDog operates as a much larger organization. If you want visibility, ownership, and the chance to grow alongside a high-caliber team that cares deeply about doing great work, this is the right seat.

What You Will Own

  • Serve as the primary administrator for all leaves of absence, managing the end-to-end LOA process including intake, documentation, compliance across all jurisdictions, and return-to-work coordination
  • Own employee relations as the first point of contact for employee concerns, conducting or supporting investigations, maintaining thorough case records, and escalating patterns to the Director of People Operations
  • Ensure multi-state employment law compliance across handbooks, required postings, compliance training, regulatory filings, and proactive risk flagging
  • Act as an operational partner to managers, providing clear guidance on performance documentation, disciplinary process, accommodations, and people risk before issues escalate
  • Administer HRIS (Rippling) including employee records, lifecycle updates, data integrity, payroll coordination, and benefits support
  • Own the pre-event onboarding experience for new hires, including a dedicated orientation call covering culture, benefits, and the People tech stack
  • Document, standardize, and continuously improve People Operations processes, building the templates, SOPs, and reference guides that allow the team to scale reliably

What You Bring

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with meaningful ownership of functional People Ops work
  • Direct experience administering leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA, and state leave laws
  • Experience handling employee relations matters including investigations, documentation, and manager guidance
  • Working knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements across multiple states
  • Track record of building, documenting, and improving processes and workflows
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive matters professionally
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritize effectively, execute with speed, and take initiative

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with Rippling or similar HRIS and workflow automation platforms
  • Experience in legal, professional services, or client-centric organizations
  • Experience supporting distributed or remote teams
  • Comfort with ambiguity and evolving systems in a fast-growing environment
  • Strong communication skills—written and verbal
  • Ability to think critically, prioritize effectively, and execute with speed

Who Thrives Here (Core Values)

We don't hire on resumes alone. We hire for competence, character, and mindset.

  • Embrace Change: Open to feedback, embracing change, and always asking "what's next?"
  • Committed: You care deeply, have your teammates' backs, and show up to build something lasting.
  • No-Ego Energy: Positive, professional, and solutions-oriented. Drama stays at the door.
  • Ownership: You do what you say, follow through, and treat the business like it's yours.
  • Fast & Hungry: You move with urgency, thrive under high expectations, and are motivated by growth and impact.

What We Offer

  • Base Salary: $89,000.00 and $109,800.00 per year, commensurate with experience (Remote, United States)
  • Eligible for performance-based bonus
  • Our job postings reflect the compensation range for the specific market and location of each role. Ranges vary by geography based on local market rates and cost of labor.
  • Benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, HSA, life insurance, disability coverage, paid time off, and parental leave.

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an equal opportunity employer. Employment selection and related decisions are made without regard to age, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identification, or being a qualified disabled veteran or qualified veteran of the Vietnam era or any other category protected by Federal or State law.
