Help us build a luxury-focused fintech in the Travel Rewards space!

Taekus is looking for a Payment Operations Manager to own and scale our payment operations function, ensuring smooth day-to-day execution while building out the right processes for long-term growth. As a fast-growing fintech with $70m revenue-run-rate and thousands of customers, we’re expanding our sponsor bank partnerships and scaling our credit and debit card programs.

This is a fintech payment operations role focused on partner bank relationships, payments, and card program management - not traditional retail branch operations. We need someone with a strong understanding of banking fundamentals, paired with the hustle and flexibility required to thrive in a startup environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing management of sponsor bank relationships

  • Create and manage payment operations processes for disputes, overdrafts, reconciliations, and escalations

  • Track and coordinate customer disputes to ensure compliance with network and government regulations

  • Monitor and manage overdraft activity, partnering with the CX team on resolution and customer communications

  • Collaborate with the CX team to handle banking operations-related support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and a premium client experience

  • Serve as the operational point of contact for sponsor banks and internal teams, ensuring strong communication and alignment

  • Build scalable processes and reporting to track key operational metrics

What you Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in payment operations, bank operations, payments, or fintech, ideally with exposure to demand deposit and credit card programs

  • Strong understanding of banking fundamentals (payments, deposits, disputes, overdrafts, reconciliations, etc.)

  • Deep understanding of ACH, wire, and card payment networks and their operational processes.

  • Prior experience working with or managing sponsor bank relationships is a strong plus

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to build processes from scratch in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills—you thrive working closely with CX, compliance, product, and external partners

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance hands-on execution and strategic process building

You’d love this job if:

  • You want to play a key role in building the payment operations function from the ground up

  • You thrive in fast-moving startup environments where priorities shift and speed matters

  • You care about delivering a premium client experience while keeping banking fundamentals strong

  • You love to travel and want to work remotely

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
