The Opportunity

At Praxis, we are building transformative medicines for people living with central nervous system disorders where the need for better treatments remains profound. Ensuring patients can access those therapies requires more than a strong national strategy—it requires trusted partnerships and thoughtful execution in the markets where access decisions are made every day.

The Payer Engagement Lead, Regional Accounts will lead strategic engagement with regional commercial health plans, state Medicaid agencies, Medicaid managed care organizations, regional Blue plans, and other payer stakeholders across the half of the United States. This individual will serve as the bridge between Praxis's national market access strategy and regional execution, helping ensure patients receive timely and sustainable access to our therapies.

This is a builder's role. As Praxis prepares for commercialization, you'll establish meaningful payer relationships, navigate diverse reimbursement environments, and generate insights that influence both regional execution and enterprise strategy. You'll work closely with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Legal, Finance, and Executive Leadership to solve complex access challenges while keeping patients at the center of every decision.

Success requires strong regional payer expertise, commercial judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to build trust while influencing across functions and organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for regional commercial health plans, Medicaid managed care organizations, state Medicaid agencies, regional Blue plans, and other priority payer organizations throughout the designated region.
  • Build trusted relationships with regional payer leaders responsible for formulary management, reimbursement strategy, utilization management, and coverage policy.
  • Communicate the clinical, economic, and value proposition of Praxis therapies to support favorable coverage and reimbursement decisions.
  • Partner with regional payer stakeholders to support clinically appropriate utilization management criteria that align with the approved label, available evidence, and patient needs.
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate regional payer intelligence that informs pricing, evidence generation, commercialization strategy, launch planning, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Identify access barriers and emerging opportunities across the region, partnering internally to develop solutions that improve patient access and commercial performance.
  • Collaborate closely with National Payer Engagement, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Legal, Finance, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment between national strategy and regional execution.
  • Monitor changes in Medicaid policy, regional reimbursement trends, competitive dynamics, and payer management approaches that may impact Praxis therapies.
  • Support launch readiness activities and represent Praxis as a trusted partner throughout regional payer engagements.

Qualifications and Key Success Factors

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in business, healthcare, life sciences, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology market access, payer engagement, regional accounts, or related commercial leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success working with regional commercial health plans, Medicaid managed care organizations, state Medicaid agencies, regional Blue plans, and other regional payer organizations.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. reimbursement and market access, including Medicaid policy, managed care, commercial health plans, Medicare Part D, specialty pharmacy, and evolving payer dynamics.
  • Experience supporting payer reviews, value communication, reimbursement strategy, and implementation of clinically appropriate utilization management approaches.
  • Experience supporting pre-launch and launch activities, including account planning, payer strategy, value communication, and cross-functional commercialization.
  • Experience in CNS, specialty pharmaceuticals, rare disease, or other complex therapeutic areas strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect regional market dynamics to commercial performance and patient access.
  • A high degree of ownership, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and accountability.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50–70% based on business needs.
  • The physical and mental requirements of our roles include but are not limited to regular use of a computer, devices or other office equipment, clear communication, and occasional movement. You’ll need comfort with screen work, basic hand coordination, and focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
