Job Description SummaryThe Outage Readiness Program Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing an approach to outage planning that considers EHS, Quality, Cost and Schedule fulfillment to deliver consistent outcomes across Steam Power Americas. Focusing on partnership with Service Directors, Customer Service Managers, Field Service Project Managers and Field Engineers, the ORPM will help assess the effectiveness of planning activities prior to mobilization to prevent execution misses once on site.
Responsible for project operations and programs support including standardization, quality management, document management, methods creation and maintenance, process improvement and tools for the project management function. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify best practices throughout Steam Power Americas in Outage Readiness and integrate into a consistent program gaining the buy-in of Customer Service Managers, Field Service Project Managers and Field Engineers.
  • Act as a reference, mentor and coach to help establish widespread Outage Readiness capability throughout Steam Power Americas.
  • Implement tools and processes to simplify internal workload and consistently deliver on customer expectations, while providing a portfolio view of Outage Readiness for Steam Power Americas.
  • Embrace the transactional nature of customer behavior along with the variety of equipment, scopes, industries, and regions to provide agnostic methods that drive value in all outage activity within Steam Power Americas
  • Responsible for defining, deploying and managing project management related processes and support tools.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline, from an accredited College or University with 4+ years of experience in the power generation industry;.
  • Or, a High School Diploma / GED with 8+ years of relevant experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing Steam Turbine & Generator outages, with consistent EHS, Quality, Cost and Schedule delivery.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills to be used.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $114,100.00 and $190,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
