Position Overview:
The Girard School of Business at Merrimack College invites applications for a full-time, open-rank faculty position in Accounting beginning in Fall 2027.
The Girard School is seeking a faculty member who can help shape the future of accounting education and applied scholarship as artificial intelligence, analytics, automation, and evolving professional practices change both the work accountants perform and the value they provide to organizations. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine meaningful professional or industry experience with a strong commitment to teaching, scholarship, and external engagement.
This position is part of a broader strategic investment in faculty, academic programs, research, experiential learning, and industry engagement within the Girard School. The successful candidate will have a significant opportunity to help shape the continued evolution and differentiation of the School's M.S. in Accounting, while contributing to undergraduate Accounting education and the School's growing network of experiential and industry partnerships.
The Girard School believes the next generation of accounting education must extend beyond technical preparation alone. As technology assumes a greater role in routine accounting, analysis, and compliance activities—and as pathways to CPA licensure continue to evolve—graduate accounting education has an opportunity to prepare professionals for increasingly important roles in advisory services, analytics, risk, technology, strategic decision support, and organizational leadership. The successful candidate will help Merrimack explore and develop this next generation of accounting education while maintaining the strong technical foundation essential to the profession.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate Accounting courses consistent with the candidate's expertise and the needs of the Girard School;
Play a meaningful role in the continued development and differentiation of the M.S. in Accounting, including opportunities to expand graduate education in advisory services, analytics, artificial intelligence, technology, risk, and strategic decision support;
