KBR is seeking an Optical Test Engineer in Lexington, MA.  This role requires an Active/Current Secret clearance.  KBR provides innovative and cost-effective services and solutions to national security and industry customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to follow established test procedures and do first round debugging

  • Fluent in MATLAB, Instrumentation skills, data analysis

  • Knowledge and Direct Experience of Fiber optics and associated lab equipment, Fiber splicing, Fiber component characterization, Fiber routing

  • Ability to work with software teams and understanding software functionality (e.g., Github, NoMachine) and some combination of expertise within the following areas: Test equipment, Optical equipment, Amplifiers (preferred), Solidworks (preferred skill), Signals and Systems knowledge (preferred skill)

  • Arbitrary Waveform Generator configuration and operation / Documentation and Procedure writing

  • Test equipment and infrastructure repair / replacement

  • Test infrastructure configuration Setup / Debugging

  • General / Test Event support for Comm and/or Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT)

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site with the possibility of hybrid arrangement

  • Travel Requirements: Willing and able to travel (up to 25%, typically CONUS)

  • Working Hours: Standard

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active/Current DoD secret clearance is required for consideration

  • 2 years applicable testbed experience

  • Experience with Optics testing; Optical comm testing; (or) Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) testing

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment

Desired:

  • Knowledge of optical communications systems; pointing, acquisition, and tracking (PAT); and optics

  • Possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations

  • Willing and able to travel (up to 25%, typically CONUS)

  • Master's of Science

  • 3+ years applicable experience
