Senior UX Strategist
InterSystems is looking for a Principal User Researcher to help us improve the user experience of TrakCare, a healthcare information system used around the world. In this role you’ll help a small UX team to establish the user research function at InterSystems and teach the value of research and user-centered principles to colleagues and cross-functional teams.
You’ll be working with cross-functional teams consisting of UX, product, development, and others to evaluate current and planned features, and provide feedback for improvements and planning. Our colleagues in TrakCare have seen some user research in action and they are eager for more. Your role will be to support the product teams with actionable user information.
In this role, you’ll the following:
- Establish the foundations of a solid user-research function
- Develop a deep understanding of our users’ needs and goals using a range of applied methods
- Evaluate the usability of current and in-progress features and project work, concepts and ideas
- Coordinate and perform user research, including interviews, usability testing, surveys, and other methods
- Establish user research as a key activity of the TrakCare product development process. Build the UX practice at InterSystems, for TrakCare
- Provide guidance and education to team members and stakeholders on the value of user research
- Map out how user research is done for TrakCare
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders on the direction of the research practice
- Deliver findings, collaborate with project teams to resolve issues and improve the product
- Work to influence product direction
What you’ll bring:
- Ten years of user research experience
- Deep interest in solving complex problems for a product with a purpose and for users providing critical functions
- A repertoire of qualitative user research techniques, skill in choosing the right method for the question
- An interest and willingness to experiment, to try new tools, learn new things
- Strong collaboration, facilitation, teaching and influencing skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize work
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
- Experience working with third-party recruiters, consultants and contractors
- Adaptability, flexibility
- Experience working with learning services (documentation, training)
- Interest, ability run workshops, lunch and learns, to expose colleagues and co-workers to the importance of user research
- Bachelors or Masters level work in Human Factors, Psychology, or related, or equivalent experience
