Your purpose: 

The Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer will be a key member of the executive team. Reporting directly to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, our CFO/COO will be responsible for overseeing all of Paperless Parts’ finance, revenue operations, people operations, and IT activity. As a highly strategic and operational leader, the CFO/COO will serve as a key partner to and aligning function for the executive leadership team. You will play a significant role in establishing the processes and systems required to support the continued growth of our business. This successful candidate will oversee:

Finance (Accounting/FP&A)

  • Oversee all of Finance, Accounting, Strategic Planning, and Capital Markets functions
  • Lead multi-year and annual budgeting processes; drive building business cases for each initiative, prioritize and understand opportunity costs and trade-off
  • Serve as the champion of operational excellence; develop and enhance a financial foundation with appropriate systems and processes that will allow the business to grow effectively over the next several years
  • Manage all financial and board reporting; manage successful relationships with board members and investors
  • Analyze business risks and opportunities, and provide hands-on, metrics-driven financial leadership to help accelerate growth and support the executive team with operational insight to better manage the business
  • Offer guidance related to financial regulations and policy as it relates to Paperless Parts’ business operations

Operations (Processes/HR/IT/Cybersecurity)

  • Evaluate current systems and where necessary implement new systems to ensure the company is set up to scale (e.g., Netsuite for Finance, HRIS for HR, Ops systems)
  • Develop and execute the operational vision and evangelize a solution set that addresses customer needs in a scalable and profitable manner
  • Manage weekly operating committee business review meetings tracking performance against goals and financial plan across different business lines
  • Work closely with the GTM team on forecasting and capacity planning to support talent acquisition and people operations
  • Set standards of corporate business operations to make sure Paperless Parts has the processes, protocols, and reporting systems in place to work effectively as one aligned organization
  • Drive talent acquisition, hiring process, and organizational design to ensure positions are being filled in a timely manner with top talent
  • Manage IT and Cybersecurity leads to ensure that we are FedRAMP compliant while supporting efficient processes for our team 

Leadership

  • Lead and manage 5 direct reports (HR, TA, Finance, IT, and Cyber) while cross-functionally influencing the organization as a whole
  • Serve as a key member of the senior executive team and partner with senior managers regarding the people, operational, and financial implications of all major business decisions
  • Cultivate skills and manage performance, guiding the finance and operations organization in career progression, promotions, succession planning, performance management, and hiring practices
  • Exemplify best practices as a self-starter and affect positive change across the organization; create and enforce standards of operating excellence
  • Own our operating rhythm along with setting and tracking OKRs

Who you are:

Our CFO/COO is someone who likes to win as a team by putting systems and processes in place so the organization can scale. You are both incredibly competent, but also a leader who can inspire, and bring people along the journey. You are a builder with experience scaling organizations from $10M to $50M in revenue. You are intentional and gritty in the pursuit of making your team and function successful. You are a creative and clear communicator with meticulous attention to detail. You see around corners and plan for the future so that there are no surprises. You are a data-driven decision-maker who seeks clarity and knows the importance of measuring progress against expectations. You are willing to adjust strategy quickly when new data is uncovered and do not let adverse facts stand in the way of making a good decision. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Recent experience and success as a CFO for a fast-growing venture-backed SaaS company (preferably vertical SaaS)
  • Experience driving the unit economics, metrics, and analysis in an SMB environment
  • Success serving as a true, operational business partner to the CEO, investors, and management peers regarding the financial implications of all major business decisions, as well as strategic objectives
  • Experience implementing and managing financial, operational and analytic IT systems and cyber security controls
  • Experience successfully evaluating, executing, and integrating acquisitions
  • Owner-operator mentality to assist in driving and implementing strategic initiatives
  • Ability to view the business from a broader perspective, integrating finance and business issues to develop insight and solutions that add value to a senior management team beyond finance
  • Understanding key operational business drivers to support company growth objectives
  • Experience scrutinizing operations and implementing internal controls with an eye toward keeping costs in line with expectations
  • Business and operationally oriented with a strong FP&A, accounting and reporting skill set

This role is based in our Boston office and requires on-site presence, with a hybrid schedule as needed.

Encinitas Office: Our California office is our newest office which seats about 15 hardworking BDRs and Account Executives individuals. The office has an open floor plan with several conference rooms to encourage collaboration with your colleagues in California and TV's to connect with those sitting in Boston or remotely. The office comes stocked with snacks, coffee and regularly catered meals. The office is walking distance from Downtown Encinitas, the Coaster train stop, and tons of restaurants, bars, and activities on the 101.
