EverOps is looking for a Okta Engineer [Identity Automation] who combines infrastructure automation expertise with hands-on experience in enterprise IT operations. This hybrid role is ideal for a versatile engineer who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage cloud infrastructure and improve endpoint management systems across Windows and macOS fleets. You'll thrive here if you enjoy autonomy, solving diverse technical challenges, and working in environments where no two days are the same. You'll be joining our fully remote, U.S.-based Virtual Operating Center and collaborating with a team of dynamic engineers who are eager to support your success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, scale, and maintain cloud infrastructure using modern automation tools and Infrastructure as Code

  • Support client environments by automating identity workflows and infrastructure provisioning, including user/group access models and IdP application management

  • Work with tools like JAMF and Intune to administer, manage, and roll out new features across macOS and Windows fleets

  • Expand the Mac software catalog using Munki and infrastructure as code

  • Participate in customer and internal EverOps scrums, providing guidance and hands-on support

  • Develop, monitor, and improve CI/CD pipelines, logging, and observability systems

  • Deploy and manage applications and tools across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

  • Continuously evaluate and introduce improvements to processes, tools, and systems

  • Automate user provisioning, deprovisioning, and group management workflows across identity providers (e.g., Okta)

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for managing access policies and IdP integrations using Terraform

  • Streamline IdP application assignment and access governance through repeatable automation

  • Collaborate with security and IT stakeholders to enforce least privilege access models and improve visibility into app access controls

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, CloudOps, SRE, or hybrid IT/DevOps roles

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

  • Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Bash, Golang, or Ruby)

  • Cloud platform experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Packer, Chef, etc.

  • CI/CD expertise with tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration

  • Monitoring and observability tooling experience (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk)

  • Experience with Okta (or similar IdPs) administration including application lifecycle and access policy automation

  • Hands-on experience scripting access workflows and automating IdP group management

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with enterprise IT operations in SaaS or startup environments

  • Familiarity with Redshift or other AWS data tools

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and macOS system internals and deployment best practices

  • Relevant industry certifications (AWS, Microsoft, JAMF, Google Cloud, etc.)

  • Passion for learning and sharing knowledge across domains

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
