BLEW & Associates is seeking a National Market Leader to build and grow our energy business nationwide. This

leader will sell BLEW’s full range of surveying, engineering, environmental assessment, zoning, and construction

services to energy developers, owners, operators, investors, and contractors.

You will develop new client relationships, expand existing accounts, and position BLEW to support clients from

property evaluation through design and construction. Success means securing profitable work, earning repeat

assignments, and establishing relationships that generate opportunities across multiple BLEW departments.

About BLEW

In business since 1891, BLEW is a national professional services firm serving clients across all 50 states. Our

teams bring together land surveying, civil engineering, environmental and property assessments, zoning, and

construction services. This role offers direct access to company leadership and the opportunity to build a

national market using an established delivery organization.

Requirements

Markets & Services

Target clients include solar, wind, and battery storage developers; oil and gas producers; pipeline, terminal, and storage operators; utilities; energy investors; and engineering, procurement, and construction contractors.

  • Surveying: boundary, ALTA, topographic, easement and route surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
  • Assessment and zoning: Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, applicable property condition assessments, zoning research, land use feasibility, and entitlement support.
  •  Engineering: civil site design, grading, drainage, stormwater, access roads, utility coordination, and electrical services within the firm’s approved capabilities.
  • Construction services: subsurface utility engineering, utility locating, 3D scanning, and related field support

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a national energy market plan with prioritized accounts, service opportunities, revenue objectives, and a clear pursuit strategy.
  • Personally originate opportunities and build relationships with development, land, engineering, procurement, construction, and executive decision makers.
  • Secure approved vendor status, master service agreements, and funded project assignments. Expand successful engagements into repeat work across client portfolios.

Account Leadership and Execution

  • Lead discovery meetings, qualifications submissions, proposals, presentations, and commercial negotiations in coordination with department leaders and authorized contract reviewers.
  • Identify opportunities for additional BLEW services within each account and coordinate introductions with the appropriate technical leaders.
  • Maintain ownership of the client relationship after award. Support project handoffs, client reviews, issue resolution, repeat assignments, and timely collections.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and forecasts, including project stage, decision makers, scope, expected fees, award timing, and anticipated revenue.
  • Coordinate account ownership and sales credit with existing business development staff. Represent BLEW at targeted industry events and client meetings.
  • Recommend staffing, geographic coverage, and specialist partnerships based on qualified demand. Confirm delivery capacity and technical scope before making commitments.
  • This role leads commercial growth across departments. Department leaders retain responsibility for project staffing, technical delivery, professional approvals, and quality. The market leader works with them to protect profitability and deliver on client commitments.

Qualifications

  • Typically 10 or more years of relevant experience in energy, engineering, surveying, environmental consulting, or related professional services, including demonstrated business development success.
  • Established relationships with energy clients and a record of personally originating and closing professional services engagements. Deep experience in at least one core energy sector, with the ability to expand into adjacent sectors.
  • Ability to sell multiple service lines, develop major accounts, and coordinate teams across disciplines and locations.
  • Working knowledge of energy project development, land and site requirements, procurement, permitting interfaces, and construction schedules.
  • Strong proposal, negotiation, presentation, CRM, forecasting, and commercial judgment skills; willingness to travel nationally as client needs require.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, surveying, environmental science, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. PE or PLS licensure is preferred but not required.

Performance Expectations

Within the first 90 days, establish a prioritized account plan, assess existing energy relationships, confirm BLEW’s

service capabilities, and build a qualified opportunity pipeline. Over the first year, success will be measured by

new paying accounts, funded service awards, invoiced and collected revenue, gross profit, repeat business, and

expansion across service lines. Annual targets will be established with the COO based on account potential and

delivery capacity.
