This is a remote position that requires regular field activity and national travel. The employee will work from a home office and travel to customer meetings, federal, state, local and military facilities, pre-bid conferences, sites, branch locations, partner offices, trade shows, and industry events within the entire country.
“A Day in the Life”
Mobile Modular is seeking a seasoned, highly motivated sales professional with a strong work ethic, exceptional character, and a dynamic, relationship-driven approach. This remote, field-based position plays a key role in expanding Mobile Modular's federal, state, and local government business, including military organizations, public agencies, cooperative purchasing customers, government prime contractors, and strategic partners.
The Government National Account Manager serves as the face and voice of Mobile Modular's government business in the marketplace and as a strategic leader for significant government opportunities. This individual is responsible for developing proactive market and account strategies, creating demand before projects reach the formal solicitation stage, expanding strategic customer relationships, increasing awareness of Mobile Modular's products and procurement solutions, and helping drive qualified opportunities through award and execution. In addition to generating new business, this role supports and collaborates with sales teams nationwide to maximize the effective use of Mobile Modular's government platforms, GSA Schedule Contract, Sourcewell Cooperative Contract, and other strategic procurement vehicles. Success in this role requires a balance of strategic business development, account leadership, opportunity management, cross-functional coordination, and disciplined sales execution.
On any given day, you may be meeting with a federal, state and local government agency, military installation, cooperative purchasing partner or prime contractor; research upcoming programs, funding initiatives, and procurement opportunities; attend a pre-bid conference, industry event, conference, or jobsite visit; develop strategic account and pursuit plans; evaluate partnering opportunities; review Salesforce pipeline activity and forecasts; or coordinate with regional sales teams, engineers, estimators, project managers, construction professionals, operations personnel, and legal resources to develop competitive, compliant, and executable modular solutions.
You will help create opportunities before they become formal solicitations, strengthen existing customer relationships, expand market access, support government-contract utilization, and help convert customer needs into profitable business opportunities across the country.
“What You’ll Do”
- Develop and execute a national government business-development strategy aligned with Mobile Modular’s growth objectives across federal, state, and local government markets. Serve as the primary face and voice of Mobile Modular’s government business, representing the company with agencies, military installations, public-sector organizations, prime contractors, strategic partners, industry associations, and other key stakeholders. Create demand early by identifying facility needs, programs, projects, relocations, emergency requirements, and funding activity before formal solicitations are released. Develop strategic account plans for priority agencies and customers, expand existing accounts, and open relationships in markets where Mobile Modular has limited access.
- Identify, qualify, pursue, and help close modular building rental and sales opportunities through customer outreach, procurement research, referrals, industry events, pre-bid meetings, and site visits.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of near-term and strategic opportunities; provide accurate forecasts, next steps, close dates, and customer intelligence.
- Develop trusted relationships with contracting partners, customer stakeholders, regional sales teams, and internal delivery teams.
- Create teaming and referral relationships with qualified small-business partners, including 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB/EDWOSB, SDVOSB/VOSB, and other strategic partners.
- Coordinate customer requirements, scope, specifications, site conditions, pricing inputs, schedules, assumptions, and proposal needs with internal engineers, estimators, construction managers, project managers, and operations teams.
- Support capability presentations, RFIs, sources-sought notices, RFQs, RFPs, GSA eBuy opportunities, and prime-contractor solicitations.
- Participate in customer meetings, pre-bid conferences, jobsite visits, trade shows, networking events, and post-event lead follow-up.
- Provide responsive customer service from initial contact through award, project handoff, execution, and follow-up.
- Maintain complete and timely account, contact, activity, and opportunity records in Salesforce and or other approved company systems.
- Support government sales training, market outreach, sales tools, templates, checklists, and process improvements.
- Achieve or exceed assigned bookings, revenue, margin, pipeline, activity, and customer-development goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
“Must Haves”
- Five or more years of successful sales, business development, national-account, construction, modular-building, equipment-rental, government-contracting, or related experience.
- Experience selling to and/or working with federal, state, or local agencies, military organizations, public-sector entities, government prime contractors, or related partners.
- Executive presence and communication skills to serve credibly as the face and voice of Mobile Modular with customers, partners, leadership, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional pursuit teams, create accountability, maintain momentum, and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, qualify, negotiate, present, and close complex opportunities with long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
- Working understanding of federal procurement processes, common contract types, proposal requirements, and customer decision dynamics.
- Ability to interpret scopes of work, specifications, schedules, solicitation instructions, and customer requirements.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, judgment, and time management.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across a national organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, CRM systems, internet research tools, virtual-meeting platforms, and customer databases.
- Ability to travel nationally as needed, including overnight travel, and to satisfy applicable conferences, meetings, customer site-access and safety requirements.
- Valid driver’s license
“Nice to Haves”
- Experience working and selling to the federal (DoD or branches of the U.S. military), state, local government or federal prime contractors.
- Experience in modular construction, commercial construction, equipment rental, temporary space, government facilities, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with SAM.gov, GSA MAS, GSA eBuy, RFIs, sources-sought notices, RFQs, RFPs, and task-order opportunities.
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria, federal site-access requirements, and government facility specifications.
- Experience coordinating proposals with technical, estimating, operations, project-management, contracts, or legal teams.
- Experience with any cooperative purchasing programs, Salesforce, opportunity and pipeline management, and forecasting.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, marketing, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
