MEDIATOR
PUBLIC PROTECTION & ADVOCACY BUREAU
INSURANCE & FINANCIAL SERVICES DIVISION

The Attorney General’s Office is seeking to hire a Mediator to work in the Attorney General’s Insurance & Financial Services Division. The Division provides consumer assistance and enforces laws regarding insurance, investment, and lending issues, and has a focus on automobile lending and insurance, as well as a focus on post-secondary educational debt, including student loan servicing and debt collection.
Primary Duties:
- Mediate consumer complaints, with a particular focus on investments, annuities, and lending disputes, which may involve extended advocacy.
- Analyze and research various topics to provide information, referrals, and guidance to consumers.
- Collaborate with other government agencies and community partners.
- Assist in investigations, litigation, and policy work relating to financial services issues.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Experience or familiarity with securities, investments, and consumer lending preferred.
- Data analysis skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to actively listen and explain complex information clearly and patiently to consumers, insurers, and financial services entities.
- Excellent written communication skills, including experience writing letters, memos, emails, summaries, and translating complex information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Ability to listen well, read carefully, and assess complex situations.
- Effective research, organization, and time management skills.

Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.
Salary: $67,269
