The role
You'll drive idea generation and product development from concept through implementation, directly responsible for designing the new ideas and technologies that push New Product Development forward. We're after a versatile engineer with a proven ability to turn concepts into scalable products - a champion of design engineering who thrives on architecting innovative products and has taken them hands-on all the way through manufacturing.
What you'll do

• Drive the engineering design and development of cutting-edge products
• Design and build prototypes for internal review, testing, and consumer validation
• Independently identify and solve a broad range of problems using an analytical approach
• Lead cross-functional brainstorming sessions and encourage out-of-the-box thinking
• Lead peer design reviews - think critically about new product concepts and ask the provocative questions that drive positive change
• Collaborate with and influence R&D, ID, Marketing, and Quality to develop our next generation of products
• Design and execute DOEs to build a first-principles understanding of key variables
• Create test protocols per SharkNinja specifications, generate test reports, and proactively communicate testing status
• Review and interpret test results, then recommend product improvements
• Tear down, debug, and analyze electro-mechanical small appliances
• Research new technologies and stay current on what's possible for future products
• Champion new ideas from concept to finish with out-of-the-box engineering solutions
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to define, design, build, and test new products across the full lifecycle, from initial conception to mass production
• Explore and source materials, vendors, and components
• Build and troubleshoot prototypes independently, mentoring junior engineers as needed

What you bring

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5+ years in product design and development, working within cost and manufacturing limitations
• Solid understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
• CAD proficiency in ProE/Creo or SolidWorks
• Proven familiarity with production processes such as injection molding and sheet metal forming, plus prototyping techniques such as 3D printing
• An engineering portfolio showing examples of prior design work is recommended

Nice to have

• Demonstrated experience in the detailed design of consumer products
• Solid understanding of mass production manufacturing techniques for plastic and sheet metal components
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a relentless drive to find potential problems and own their resolution
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical assemblies: motors, heating elements, sensors, PCBAs, buttons
• Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment
• Strong fabrication skills, comfort with hand tools, and the ability to prototype quickly
• Flexibility - you enjoy switching gears and thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment
• A desire to shape the cutting-edge consumer appliances on store shelves by driving how those products function
• Ability to travel globally, including trips to China and the UK
• A passion for cooking and food is a plus

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Pay Range
$76,500-$118,000 USD
