Marketing Director - Shark (Steam)
The Marketing Director for Shark is a consumer champion, responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy, communication campaigns, promotions, product/channel assortment, pricing and P&L management. The individual will have a passion for bringing voice of the consumer to the organization, driving innovative, successful new products to market. As a leader in the organization, with self-directed capabilities, the Director will work with all functions within the organization to represent assigned product lines with a high level of energy, organization and professionalism. The Director is a strategic thinker who strives to align category goals and objectives with company mission, moving forward vigorously with consensus. This role will start as individual contributor with opportunity to grow team.
Responsibilities:
·Competitive Landscape Assessment: Assess and drive cross-functional understanding of category, competitive and consumer landscape - with focus on unmet needs, to identify market opportunities and gaps.
·Go-to-Market Leader: Lead, develop and manage a holistic product commercialization timeline and plan to ensure excellence of execution in market. This includes leading purchase driving story development and validation including naming, positioning, benefit/feature articulation & visualization. Bring it to life across in-store and online consumer touchpoints.
·Assortment Strategy: Co-lead with Category Management and Product teams to define the assortment Strategy. Ensure proposed product viability, cost and timelines allow us to fit within retailer reset windows and deliver on market share and CM targets. Define product configurations ensuring value between channels and step-up stories within channels.
·Promotional Strategy: Provide category direction and inputs into promotional strategy, ensuring it ties-in with the broader marketing/commercialization plan, aligning on promo windows, pricing, etc., to drive consistent message in the marketplace
·Product Development: Collaborate with product development on next generation products: category/market/competitive insights and assortment gaps to drive NPD.
·Core Management: Understand the current and past performance of each product in our portfolio, by retailer, and work with Category Management, Finance and the Sales teams to drive the implementation of actions to enhance product margin and sales volume. Provide guidance on NPI update execution – packaging, POP, display.
·Customer champion: Key liaison between sales directors/VPs and product development, bringing in-market learnings and buyer feedback to the product development team to inform NPD.
·P&L management: closely track in-market performance (sales, margin, share) and identify opportunities to improve or accelerate momentum for existing line-up as well as recently launched new items, delivering top and bottom line goals.
Requirements:
·Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business, or equivalent, MBA desired
·8-10 years in product, brand management
·Demonstrated ability to lead and energetically motivate cross functionally with other teams who contribute to the overall accomplishment of goals
·Consumer products industry experience
·Excellent communication, listening, and presentation skills
·Ability to lead in a dynamic, fast paced, deadline driven environment
·Ability to work cross functionally with engineers and other disciplines
·Strong understanding of the “big-box” retail marketplace
