We’re looking for a passionate, hands-on Community Manager to create, own and nurture our online and in-person Snyk communities, helping Snyk users and developers stay secure.

Snyk's mission is to help software developers to use open source securely. We have a strong developer focus on the product, and good traction within the DevSecOps space. Over 200,000 developers already depend on Snyk to find and fix their vulnerable dependencies. We protect more than 150,000 open source projects, and receive a lot of badges, contributions and appreciation from the broader open source community.

We believe open source software is a force for good, and we have both the team and the product to help the large number of open source maintainers who don’t have security expertise.

Your role

You will spend most of your time organising, coordinating and participating in community events and activities. You’ll create, grow and nurture various communities, both online and otherwise, ensuring high standards of conduct between all members of each community. You will organise and enable ways that members can learn the importance of security and devsecops, while making it delightful and straightforward to find out about Snyk.

Our ideal candidate has exceptional verbal and written communication skills and is able to develop engaging content and spaces for developers to learn. You should be a ‘people person’ with great customer service skills and the ability to moderate online and offline conversations with our communities.

You’ll spend your time:

  • growing and nurturing our virtual and in-person community of developers.
  • being a public face of the Snyk communities.
  • creating a community strategy in-line with Snyk’s goals and values.
  • setting and implement social media and communication campaigns to align with the goals of each community.
  • representing Snyk at conferences, virtual and in-person community meetups and customer events.
  • increasing awareness of the Snyk platform among the communities in a non-intrusive way.
  • educating open source users about the importance of devsecops.
  • building relationships with key influencers in the community, potential customers and external community leaders.
  • outreach to wider groups to grow our communities.
  • taking care of community logistics, including the hosted platforms, websites, communication and in-person venue logistics as required..

At Snyk, community management, developer relations and marketing work closely together to create shared messages and a cohesive brand. You will work closely with these teams as well as broader developer and security communities.

You should apply if:

  • You have previous community management experience: you’ve created and managed a few of different communities, and understand the values and behaviours that healthy communities should possess.
  • You are at your best when immersed in developer communities.
  • You understand developer lifecycles and ecosystems
  • You pride yourself on the quality and accessibility of your communication.
  • You are open to travelling (particularly to events in the USA and UK)
  • You really enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life and value diversity
  • You care about both security and open source software!

Interested?

We are looking for someone to ideally join us in our London or Boston offices, but if you are based remotely in the US or EU then we would love to hear from you as well!

We’re deeply committed to our healthy, inclusive culture and are working hard to nurture a diverse team at Snyk; we particularly encourage applications from those who are traditionally underrepresented in tech. If you like the sound of this role but are not totally sure whether you’re the right person, do apply anyway.
