MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD)

 

We have had great success in recent years distributing our annuity and life-LTC combination products through our financial institution relationships. To further this success we must evolve our strategy to reach more customers where they are, on their terms, with the products they need. For that reason, we are pleased to announce that MassMutual will be forming a dedicated third-party distribution channel, MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD). MMSD will continue to build on the annuity and life-LTC combination strategy and expand the product solution offering to include life and disability insurance.

MMSD's strategy is to aggressively grow top line sales by expanding existing and establishing new partnerships with financial institutions (wire houses, banks, broker-dealers) and making significant investments in technology, sales, operations, marketing and product development. Our strategy will be driven by dedicated teams across the enterprise where we will prioritize a dynamic, agile, and entrepreneurial culture.

The Communications Consultant, will be a highly skilled, motivated and experienced corporate communications professional who will be responsible for developing and executing communications plans in collaboration with other communications partners to help promote, enhance and protect the company brand and reputation.? This role will be responsible for overseeing the creation, integration and implementation of a broad range of communications activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of MassMutual to our third-party distributors.

 

What success looks like

  • Implementing and overseeing communications programs that effectively engage internal and external audiences well as describe and promote the third-party organization and its products

  • Understanding business needs and opportunities to develop communication strategy, proactively providing recommendations to evolve communications and messaging to assist in driving business results?? ?

  • Leverage data and metrics to measure communications effectiveness, define strategies and communication tactics

 

The Impact

 

Your days will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing communication recommendations, strategies, tools and programs as needed to enhance or support business objectives and key initiatives

  • Translating business strategy, initiatives and progress into effective and impactful messaging for third party audiences, including wire houses, broker dealers, financial institutions, financial professionals and BGAs

  • Convey themes and messages to distributors for multiple product lines (Life, Disability, Annuities and Life/LTC Hybrid) using traditional and emerging media (e.g., written, verbal, visual design, video, social media)

  • Creating and implementing initiatives and tactics to drive effective communications (e.g., executive communications, script writing, PowerPoint presentations) that inform, engage, enable and inspire

  • Work with internal partners for adherence to branding guidelines and overall brand management and collaborate with corporate communications on press releases

  • Coordinates resources for firm conferences and meetings and identifies and tracks measurable follow up activities

  • Have a team mentality, effectively collaborating with fellow communications areas across the enterprise

  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility to work on new areas or special projects as needed ?

  • Develop and execute on communication strategy that supports virtual teams

 

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field

  • Minimum 6 years of communications experience, ideally at a Fortune 100 company

  • Insurance/Financial services background and/or experience in a heavily regulated industry

  • Strong writing, editing and time management skills ? from development of strategic messaging to pitching unique storylines, to execution of thought leadership communications

  • Excellent communications and marketing relationships (regional, national, trade, digital) and knowledge

  • Demonstrated issues and reputation management capabilities. Ability to think and adapt quickly to a fast-moving range of issues while remaining and exhibiting calm under pressure
