The Role
As a Manufacturing Zone Engineer (Level 7), you will lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and tooling for new programs, model changes, and current production. You'll play a critical role in designing, integrating, and launching equipment into plant operations, driving each project from concept to steady-state production. This role requires effective use of personnel, materials, machinery, and facilities to ensure seamless execution. Work is performed in both centralized manufacturing engineering facilities and on-site at assembly plants, with a high degree of independent decision-making.

What You'll Do
- Lead execution for new programs, model changes, and current production within a defined area (e.g., trim, chassis, etc.).
- Define manufacturing scope and requirements, including processes, tooling, materials, workstation layout, and facility setup.
- Optimize and ensure efficient material flow for future-state operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize tooling and processes across departments and programs.
- Develop Statements of Requirements (SORs) for tooling and equipment.
- Provide technical direction and oversight to vendors throughout design, build, and installation phases.
- Manage tooling and equipment design/build, facility construction, integration, plant installation, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support build events and effectively address launch issues at the plant level.
- Ensure all execution activities align with Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent relevant experience.
- 4-7+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Experience supporting product launches or model changes in a production environment.
- Strong technical foundation in manufacturing processes, equipment, and process engineering disciplines.
- Working knowledge of the Global Launch Process (GLP) and Vehicle Development Process (VDP).
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in fast-paced manufacturing settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams, influence stakeholders, and drive solutions.

- Strong understanding of material flow principles and lean manufacturing layouts
- Exposure to troubleshooting launch issues and implementing corrective actions
