Position Summary

Electroswitch is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to improve manufacturing and assembly processes, develop tooling and fixtures, and lead process-improvement projects at our Weymouth facility.

This is a hands-on engineering position that works closely with production to improve workflow, increase throughput, reduce labor and processing time, resolve production issues, and support the safe and cost-effective manufacture of our products.

The successful candidate must have Lean Six Sigma experience and the ability to independently design, develop, and troubleshoot manufacturing tooling and fixtures. This position will also lead projects, develop procedures and standard operating procedures, and support continuous-improvement initiatives throughout the operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing and assembly processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, quality concerns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner closely with production employees and leadership to improve workflow, throughput, safety, quality, and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Lead manufacturing and process-improvement projects from initial analysis through implementation and follow-up.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and troubleshoot tooling, fixtures, workholding devices, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and tools to reduce waste, improve process capability, and support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analyses, line-balancing activities, and equipment or floor-layout evaluations.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing methods, processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Create, revise, and maintain manufacturing procedures, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and related documentation.
  • Support production personnel in the day-to-day execution of manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and testing activities.
  • Investigate production problems, determine root causes, and implement corrective or preventive actions.
  • Support PFMEA, process-capability reviews, SPC activities, continuous-improvement studies, and design-of-experiment activities as needed.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and the implementation of 5S, visual manufacturing, flow-line, and other Lean practices.
  • Support new-product development and provide design-for-manufacturability recommendations.
  • Assist with manufacturing cost estimates, tooling estimates, capital requests, and equipment procurement.
  • Help ensure manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment comply with applicable quality and safety requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
 QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated manufacturing or process-engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Practical experience applying Lean Six Sigma principles to manufacturing-process improvements.
  • Proven ability to independently design and troubleshoot tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience leading manufacturing, engineering, or continuous-improvement projects.
  • Ability to develop clear procedures, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project-management, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with production employees, engineers, quality personnel, maintenance, and operations leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Significant relevant manufacturing-engineering experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Ability to work onsite in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD experience.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or 3D printing.
  • Formal project-management experience.
  • Experience with ERP or manufacturing-resource-planning systems.
  • Knowledge of SPC, PFMEA, DOE, root-cause analysis, 5S, Kaizen, flow-line manufacturing, and visual manufacturing practices.
  • Experience supporting electromechanical assembly or a related manufacturing environment.
Travel

Occasional travel to supplier, partner, or customer locations as needed.
