Piaggio Fast Forward Inc. (PFF), a Boston-based subsidiary of the Piaggio Group (creator of the Vespa scooter), was established in 2015. PFF's mission is to build technology products that move the way that people move, specifically addressing robotic interaction in dynamic environments. PFF's current manufacturing portfolio includes: robotic carts for business applications; robotic hardware and software modules; and two consumer robot models, one developed in partnership with Disney Company/Star Wars. Modular components including sensors, electrical and mechanical components, and software are shared across products. Leveraging PFF’s expertise in navigation and machine safety, PFF is also a prominent manufacturer of radar-based Rider Assistance modules, integrated into tens of thousands of motorcycles and scooters globally.
The Role
Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Supply Chain & Operations Co-Op to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business, overseeing our bill of materials, supporting logistics and warehousing initiatives, and working alongside manufacturing and quality. Your responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, tracking orders, creating and maintaining inventory, quality assurance, maintaining ERP accuracy, and working cross-functionally with the inventory team, engineering, quality, and management.
The ideal candidate should be analytically minded, detail oriented, and be a creative problem solver in order to secure the best prices according to budget, while also balancing inventory levels. Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles is beneficial.
What You’ll Do:
- Research, select, and purchase quality products, materials and services
- Negotiates pricing and terms with suppliers; analyzing suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
- Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives
- Reliable point of contact for supplier base, not limited to; coordinates shipping information between suppliers and receiving department, relays quality inspection information, provides changes to drawings/releases, and assigns supplier-facing MRB tasks
- Process purchasing requisitions for organization and update database on status of orders
- Track purchases, maintaining open order reporting with vendors and reporting to leadership
- Analyzes inventory levels, production speed, and product demand to determine the amount of finished product that will be produced and material required for procurement
- Work with Quality to escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Maintain ERP integrity and accuracy (Item master data, cross reference maintenance, and other related fields) ensuring accurate planning and purchasing
- Develop process improvements for purchasing, procurement, and ERP management
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by manager
Requirements:
- At least one previous co-op or internship experience in a related role
- In office in Charlestown (near Sullivan Square T station) five days a week
- Working towards a degree related to supply chain management or industrial engineering
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
- Critical thinking, negotiation skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work well with a team.
- Able to thrive in a high-stress and fast-paced environment.
- ERP/MRP experience
- Experience with NetSuite a plus
