Managing Principal - AI Strategy

The Managing Principal, AI Strategy is one of the highest-level individual contributor roles at 3Cloud, combining deep technical authority, executive advisory capability, commercial leadership, and enterprise influence.

Reporting to the 3Cloud Chief AI Officer, the Managing Principal will also serve as Deputy Chief AI Officer and lead 3Cloud’s cross-service-line AI Center of Excellence. The role is jointly aligned to the Advisory and Data & AI service lines, connecting business-led AI strategy with architecture, engineering, delivery, governance, adoption, and measurable client outcomes.

The Managing Principal will help define 3Cloud's enterprise AI direction, advise clients on their most complex AI transformations, shape differentiated offerings, establish reusable technical capabilities, and accelerate AI-related bookings and downstream delivery pull-through. The initial emphasis is standing up the Center of Excellence and supporting strategic pursuits, with client commitments taking precedence when priorities conflict. Success comes through expertise and influence rather than traditional people-management authority.

Responsibilities

· Partner with the Chief AI Officer to define and execute 3Cloud's enterprise AI strategy, operating model, investment priorities, and governance.

· Lead the cross-service-line AI Center of Excellence, establishing standards, reusable assets, reference architectures, accelerators, and best practices.

· Drive enterprise adoption of AI across client delivery, internal operations, practitioner enablement, and innovation.

· Align 3Cloud's AI strategy with Microsoft and Cognizant while preserving 3Cloud's Azure-focused differentiation.

· Measure and continuously improve the impact of the AI Center of Excellence through adoption, asset reuse, delivery quality, and business value.

Executive Advisory & Technical Leadership

· Serve as a trusted advisor to executive clients on enterprise AI strategy, governance, operating models, and large-scale AI transformation.

· Bridge business strategy with AI architecture, engineering, data platforms, agentic systems, and production delivery.

· Establish technical direction, architectural principles, and reference patterns for enterprise AI solutions.

· Provide guidance on the organization's most complex AI opportunities, architectures, delivery approaches, and technology decisions.

· Mentor senior architects, consultants, and technical leaders across the organization.

Offer Development & Commercial Growth

· Develop and evolve 3Cloud's AI portfolio across strategy, governance, engineering, agentic AI, platforms, industry solutions, and managed services.

· Shape strategic pursuits, executive presentations, solution development, and complex proposals.

· Convert executive AI strategy engagements into implementation, managed services, and long-term client relationships.

· Drive pipeline growth, solution differentiation, and cross-service-line pull-through.

Innovation & Enterprise Enablement

· Identify emerging AI technologies, market opportunities, and industry trends that influence 3Cloud's strategic direction.

· Develop reusable methodologies, evaluation frameworks, reference implementations, and intellectual property.

· Champion responsible, secure, and commercially practical AI adoption across the organization.

· Foster collaboration across Advisory, Engineering, Security, Cloud, Applications, Experience Design, Organizational Change Management, and Managed Services.

Thought Leadership and Market Influence

· Develop differentiated points of view on enterprise AI strategy, agentic AI, responsible AI, AI operating models, workforce transformation, and value realization.

· Represent 3Cloud with clients, Microsoft, Cognizant, analysts, conferences, executive forums, and industry organizations.

· Contribute to publications, executive briefings, market campaigns, and strategic partner initiatives.

· Strengthen 3Cloud’s reputation as a leader in practical, responsible, and business-driven AI transformation.

Requirements

· 15+ years of experience in AI, data platforms, cloud, enterprise architecture, software engineering, consulting, or related disciplines.

· Deep expertise in generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, enterprise AI architecture, and production AI delivery.

· Significant experience advising C-suite executives on AI strategy and business transformation.

· Demonstrated success leading enterprise AI, innovation, architecture, or technology Centers of Excellence.

· Proven ability to connect business strategy with AI architecture, engineering, governance, security, and organizational adoption.

· Experience shaping strategic consulting pursuits and converting advisory engagements into implementation programs.

· Exceptional executive communication, consulting, and influence skills within complex matrixed organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

· Post-doctorate degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, engineering, business, or a related discipline.

· Relevant Microsoft, Azure, Fabric, Databricks, cloud, AI, data, architecture, or security certifications. Other hyperscalar experience also preferred.

· Established external credibility through speaking, publishing, patents, research, open-source contribution, industry standards, or recognized market leadership.

· Experience working within a global technology consulting or professional-services organization.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
