Position Summary

TA Realty is an SEC-registered alternative asset manager focused on commercial real estate. Our technology team is small by design. We pair trusted partners with AI to deliver the reliability of a much larger organization, and we hold ourselves to the security standards our investors expect.

This is a leadership role for someone who stays close to the work. Our managed service providers run the day-to-day, and you hold them to it. You lead the engineers who partner with our investment, finance, and operations teams, and you stay hands-on enough to set the technical standard yourself. Expect to spend meaningful time in the tools.

What you’ll own

  • Operations governance: Set the service bar and hold our MSPs and vendors to it. Lead major incidents, root-cause reviews, and DR testing with them. Own technology spend and licensing. Keep the roadmap and documentation living, and retire what no longer earns its place.
  • Architecture, security, and compliance: Set the standards for integrations, identity, and platforms, and say no when something does not fit. Keep controls audit-ready in support of SEC and Reg S-P obligations and SOC 2 and ISO 27001-aligned practices.
  • Team leadership: Develop operations and solutions engineers into embedded builders who own business outcomes, not tickets. Assign each a business domain, set clear goals, and give honest feedback.
  • Embedded engineering: Direct how your engineers embed with business teams, from learning the process to owning the outcome through adoption. Stay in the work: build, review, and troubleshoot alongside them, and set the technical bar by example. Turn what the team learns into reusable patterns.
  • AI enablement and governance: Lead how the firm adopts Copilot and other agent platforms. Manage agent identity and lifecycle, set Power Platform guardrails, and measure the value delivered.

In your first year, you will have

  • Brought MSP and vendor performance under defined service levels
  • Led each engineer through at least one embedded engagement that delivered a workflow improvement
  • Personally delivered at least one automation, integration, or agent that your team now relies on
  • Moved Copilot and agents from experiments to adopted, governed workflows
  • Kept the environment audit-ready, with identity and access reviewed regularly

What you bring

Essential

  • 7+ years in infrastructure, operations, or solutions engineering, including 3+ years leading people
  • Current hands-on command of Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, and scripting, including something you built or fixed in this stack within the last year
  • A record of governing MSPs and vendors to defined outcomes, including spend, incidents, and audit readiness
  • A record of growing engineers, ideally from support or operations backgrounds, into higher-leverage roles
  • Strong security fundamentals: identity, least privilege, endpoint, and data protection

Strongly valued

  • Experience deploying AI tools to real users and working through the governance questions that follow
  • A clear communicator who explains tradeoffs plainly to non-technical leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Helpful, not required

  • Financial services or other regulated industry experience
  • A Microsoft or cloud security certification, such as SC-300 or AZ-104
