Position Overview

The Manager, Strategy plays a critical role in driving growth for our Member Engagement & Transparency business. Reporting to the VP, Strategy, this role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, partnering closely with business leadership to both help shape the next phase of growth and keep the operating engine running smoothly. This leader will split time between:
1) Key strategic projects – identifying, sizing, and evaluating new growth opportunities, markets, products, and partnership opportunities
2) Operational leadership – operationalizing strategic initiatives and supporting the operating rhythm of the business, including key recurring meetings and monthly/quarterly planning cadences
The role requires a collaborative strategic thinker who can pivot seamlessly between high-level strategy, creative problem solving and hands-on technical analysis.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Projects & Growth Initiatives

    • Support strategic analyses to identify and evaluate new growth opportunities (e.g., growth strategy, new markets, products, customer segments, partnerships, or M&A themes)

    • Build market sizing, financial models, and business cases to support investment decisions

    • Conduct competitive and market/industry research to inform strategic recommendations

    • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to provide insights into business performance

    • Support senior leaders with clear, concise recommendations and executive-ready materials

    • Support the development of long-term strategic plans and initiatives

    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to inform business planning and process improvement efforts

  • Strategic Initiative Operations

    • Support functional owners to drive strategic initiatives forward from project recommendations through to implementation and operations

    • Coordinate with various departments to ensure project milestones and objectives are met

    • Track and measure progress and performance of strategic initiatives

  • Business Operations & Cadence

    • Support the operating rhythm of the business, including monthly and quarterly cadences

    • Develop agendas, materials, and analyses to ensure meetings are efficient, data-driven, and decision-oriented

    • Track follow-ups, decisions, and action items to drive accountability and execution

  • Cross-Functional Partnership

    • Collaborate with Marketing and Product to ensure alignment across messaging and product roadmap as strategy projects determine

    • Partner with Enterprise Strategy teams to assess potential partnerships and expansion opportunities that align with ME&T strategic objectives

    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization

What You’ll Bring to Zelis:

  • 5+ years of professional experience, ideally with a background in management consulting, investment banking, or private equity

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A./ B. S.) from four-year college or university (required)

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; comfortable building structured analyses from scratch

  • Can interpret and use data to make well-founded business decisions, but also be comfortable and confident making decisions about abstract topics or in the absence of data

  • Expert in data analysis and visualization in story-telling, motivating leaders to action based on diagnostics; advanced Excel and PowerPoint experience required

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex topics for executive audiences

  • Superb interpersonal skills – high emotional intelligence, humility and low ego

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-moving environment

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving between strategic thinking and tactical execution

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate cross functionally to drive results

  • Strong project management and time management skills

  • An individual with the utmost professional and personal integrity

  • Team player, effective communicator, persuasive and professional demeanor

  • Startup or high-growth company experience is a plus

  • Experience in healthcare, payments, or fintech is a plus but not required

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.

Base Salary Range

$115,000.00 - $145,350.00

At Zelis we are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation packages. The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
