Our teams work with some of the world’s richest observability and telemetry datasets, developing detection and grouping models that help thousands of customers troubleshoot, automate, and optimize their cloud systems in real time.

As a Manager II in Applied AI, you will lead multiple teams of talented scientists, ML engineers and managers focused on advancing detection, grouping, and text intelligence models. • Collaborate with product managers and partner teams to deliver projects from research to production, at Datadog scale
  • Oversee project planning, execution, and technical quality, ensuring operational excellence and system reliability
  • Participate in hiring and organizational planning for future growth
  • Promote best practices in machine learning, AI engineering, operational standards, and career development across the organization
  • Contribute to cross-team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and shaping Datadog’s broader AI roadmap

Who You Are:

  • An experienced technical leader with a strong background in AI, machine learning, or data science
  • Proven success building and shipping ML or AI-powered products
  • Experience leading and mentoring multiple teams, including senior engineers and engineering managers
  • Deep technical expertise in one or more: deep learning, anomaly detection, time series modeling, NLP for semi-structured data
  • Comfortable partnering with Product to set vision and strategy, and turning ambiguous problems into clear plans
  • A strong people manager, able to attract, develop, and retain top AI and engineering talent
  • BS/MS/PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
