Job Description


The Manager, HR Operations & Systems Excellence provides leadership for Human Resources operations, Workday systems, reporting, governance, and process improvement. This role leads a team of systems analysts, reporting professionals, and operational specialists. The Manager establishes priorities, provides direction, removes barriers, and holds the team accountable for delivering solutions that support operational needs, compliance requirements, and organizational goals.

The Manager partners with Human Capital leadership, Market HR Directors, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Finance, Information Services, Legal, and other stakeholders to improve processes, strengthen decision making, and drive greater consistency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Human Resources operational governance, service delivery models, and process improvement efforts.

  • Establish standards for prioritization, decision making, ownership, escalation, and accountability.

  • Guide recommendations that balance compliance, operational needs, employee experience, financial impacts, and system capabilities.

  • Ensure cross functional decisions have clear owners, expected outcomes, and implementation plans.

  • Monitor significant risks, unresolved decisions, and governance commitments and escalate when needed.

  • Lead the Workday team supporting HCM Core, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Reporting, contingent workforce systems, and international operations.

  • Set priorities based on compliance risk, employee and operational impact, business value, urgency, and team capacity.

  • Ensure system configuration aligns with approved policies, processes, governance decisions, and business requirements.

  • Provide oversight for system design, configuration, testing, documentation, and implementation activities completed by the team.

  • Provide leadership for Workday stabilization, releases, enhancements, and continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the leadership escalation point for complex or cross-functional Workday issues.

  • Provide leadership for Workday reporting, analytics, and reporting governance.

  • Establish standards for prioritizing, developing, securing, distributing, and maintaining reports.

  • Ensure security, confidentiality, data ownership, and distribution risks are appropriately addressed.

  • Hold the reporting team accountable for accuracy, documentation, maintenance, and timely delivery.

  • Partner with functional leaders to strengthen the use of reporting and analytics in decision making.

  • Establish expectations for service delivery, responsiveness, ownership, communication, and escalation.

  • Ensure recurring issues and case trends are used to identify opportunities for process or system improvement.

  • Provide oversight of operational controls, data-integrity reviews, audits, and compliance-monitoring activities.

  • Review significant findings and hold responsible owners accountable for corrective action.

  • Support readiness for internal and external audits, legal requests, and regulatory reviews.

  • Provide leadership and governance for contingent workforce operations and supporting technologies.

  • Establish standards for contingent worker processes, system use, data quality, controls, and stakeholder responsibilities.

  • Ensure alignment among Workday, VNDLY, Human Capital, Finance, Accounts Payable, vendors, and hiring leaders.

  • Oversee efforts to improve contingent workforce processes, controls, compliance, reporting, and worker experience.

  • Serve as the leadership escalation point for significant contingent workforce issues.

  • Partner with the Corporate Director, Human Capital & Payroll to establish priorities and advance the strategy for Human Resources operations, systems, governance, and reporting.

  • Translate organizational goals into team priorities and improvement initiatives.

  • Provide leadership with clear updates on priorities, decisions, risks, progress, and resource needs.

  • Recommend changes to processes, systems, controls, responsibilities, and service delivery models.

  • Help transition the organization from post-go-live stabilization to a sustainable operating and governance model.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in Human Resources operations, HR systems, governance, service delivery, or process improvement.

  • Experience leading systems, reporting, operational, or cross-functional teams.

  • Experience supporting Workday or another enterprise Human Capital Management system.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate end-to-end processes and cross-functional impacts.

  • Strong judgment, leadership, facilitation, organization, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across a complex and geographically dispersed organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading Workday functional analysts or comparable systems resources.

  • Experience with Workday HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, VNDLY, or Reporting.

  • Experience with contingent workforce systems and operations.

  • Experience developing governance or service-delivery models.

  • Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated environment.

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
