Greenway Health is seeking a Manager, Platform Engineering to lead the evolution of our enterprise cloud platform and internal developer ecosystem supporting healthcare applications and services.
This role is responsible for enabling secure, compliant, scalable, and highly available platforms that power Greenway’s products across hybrid (on-prem + AWS) environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE practices, along with proven people leadership, to drive platform standardization, automation, and developer productivity across multiple product teams.
You will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing platform engineering team, driving Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD maturity, observability, and platform reliability, while aligning with business and product goals.
You will partner closely with Product Engineering, Cloud Operations, Security/Compliance (HIPAA), and Architecture teams to modernize infrastructure, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Ownership
- Define and drive the platform engineering vision and roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
- Build and evolve an internal developer platform (IDP) to improve developer productivity and experience.
- Establish standards for cloud architecture, platform reliability, scalability, and security.
- Own platform SLAs/SLOs, reliability metrics, and operational excellence.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of platform/DevOps/SRE engineers.
- Drive hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Foster a culture of ownership, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a bridge between engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering
- Oversee design and implementation of AWS-based and hybrid (on-prem + cloud) infrastructure.
- Guide teams in adopting Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and GitOps practices.
- Ensure scalable and resilient architecture across services and environments.
DevOps, SRE & Automation
- Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployment best practices.
- Implement and mature SRE practices including incident management, postmortems, and error budgets.
- Establish robust monitoring, observability, and alerting systems.
Security, Compliance & Cost Optimization
- Ensure adherence to security best practices, compliance requirements, and governance policies.
- Partner with security teams to implement cloud security controls and risk mitigation strategies.
- Own cloud cost optimization (FinOps) and efficient resource utilization.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with product engineering teams to enable faster, safer deployments.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and operations teams on platform initiatives.
- Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and platform capabilities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10–15 years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience in healthcare technology is a plus.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Technical Expertise
- Strong expertise in AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform preferred, CloudFormation).
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Gerrit, Artifactory, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python and Bash.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, reliability engineering, and observability.
Leadership & Management
- Proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams.
- Strong decision-making, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and stakeholders.
Platform Mindset
- Experience building or contributing to internal developer platforms (IDP).
- Strong focus on developer experience, self-service infrastructure, and standardization.
- Understanding of platform product thinking (treating platform as a product).
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for most of the workday
- This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard for most of their workday
- This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for extended periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
- The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
- Up to 75% of travel required
