Summary 

The BD & Marketing Specialist supports the business development and marketing efforts of the assigned practice group. This role works closely with BD managers, lawyers, and cross-functional colleagues to assist with initiatives that strengthen client outreach, showcase the group’s capabilities, and drive day-to-day marketing activity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and motivated to grow their career in a professional services environment. The Specialist plays a key role in supporting pitches and proposals, developing marketing collateral, tracking pipeline activity, and coordinating events. They contribute to the execution of broader BD and marketing initiatives while helping to foster a collaborative, client-focused team culture. 
 
Location  

This position can sit in our Washington D.C., Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, Northern Virginia, or Philadelphia office and offers a hybrid work schedule. 
 
Responsibilities 

  • Assist with the execution of marketing and BD initiatives in support of practice group goals. 

  • Assist with requesting and summarizing competitive intelligence in support of client-driven, market-driven or practice-driven initiatives. 

  • Support the preparation of client-facing materials, presentations, and marketing collaterals. 

  • Collaborate with BD team members and lawyers to assist with pitches, proposals, and credentials. 

  • Update and maintain CRM records, track business development activity, and help pull reports or dashboards as needed. 

  • Help gather content and coordinate timelines for directories and awards submissions. 

  • Provide logistical support for client events, webinars, and sponsorships, including tracking RSVPs, preparing materials, and coordinating follow-up. 

  • Assist with practice group and subgroup meeting logistics, agendas, and materials. 

  • Collaborate with other BD team members on cross-practice projects and initiatives. 

  • Coordinate with design, communications, and digital teams to ensure materials are on-brand and delivered on time. 

  • Maintain experience and matter tracking tools and assist with updates as needed. 

  • Help support onboarding activities for new lawyers from a BD and marketing perspective. 

  • Assist with budget tracking and administrative coordination for marketing expenses. 

  • Perform additional tasks as requested.

The ideal candidate has previous experience in a marketing, communications, or business development role within a professional services or law firm setting. They are highly organized, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and attorneys. Candidates should have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and comfort using digital tools and CRM systems. A positive, team-oriented attitude, professional demeanor, and eagerness to learn are critical to success in this role. 

Minimum Education      

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field. 
     

Minimum Years of Experience   

  • 3 years’ experience in marketing and/or business development in a professional services environment.

Physical Demands 

Sedentary work: This is primarily sedentary work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The role involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking and standing, and occasional travel, both domestic and international. 
 

Work Environment     

The individual selected for this position may have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement combining remote and in-office work. The specific arrangement will be determined at the time of hiring and may be modified at the firm's discretion.

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $71,743 - $109,321 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.  

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
