Job Description
As the Senior Attorney within the Legal Payments team, you will be responsible for providing legal and regulatory support for the covered lines of business, including Payments, Corporate Treasury Services, Escrow Services, and Trade Finance. You will ensure compliance with regulations and support market innovation, while reviewing, drafting, and negotiating documents related to these areas. You will also stay abreast of key regulatory agendas impacting our business, participate in regional and global initiatives, and support the negotiation of facilities and deals. Your role will involve collaborating with the larger banking team and applying your legal skills to new business areas, with a focus on innovation and a solution-promoten approach.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Review, draft, and negotiate documents related to the covered lines of business.
  • Stay abreast of key regulatory agendas impacting JPMorgan's business, supporting regulators and the market innovation agenda, advising and interpreting regulations, and assessing legal risks.
  • Participate in regional and global initiatives, including NBIA assessments, and the development of templates, know-how, best practices, and procedures.
  • Provide support in the negotiation of facilities and deals, including lending, trade finance, supply chain finance, receivables finance, and bank guarantees.
  • Support the larger banking team, when needed, with respect to other products and services, as well as various institutional matters.
  • Provide legal and regulatory support in connection with the covered lines of business.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of legal experience in payments, cash management, or bank regulatory, with experience in trade finance.
  • Licensed attorney in Brazil.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong regulatory background.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply technical product knowledge and experience to complex and innovative transactions and products.
  • Strong commercial focus with a solution-driven approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and respond to business needs and goals.
  • Ability to adapt and apply legal skills in new business areas and subjects where the lawyer may not have expertise, and willingness to develop and excel beyond their comfort zone.
