About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, tech-forward Legal Operations & Contracts Manager to join our Legal Department. In this hands-on, multi-faceted role, you will be responsible for scaling our legal tech stack—with a focus on implementing and optimizing AI-driven legal workflows and CLM systems—while directly managing and negotiating commercial agreements, supporting compliance programs, and providing foundational administrative support for the department.

The ideal candidate bridges the gap between legal operations, technology, and day-to-day administrative execution. You are comfortable independently reviewing commercial contracts while enthusiastically tackling operational tasks, managing schedules, and organizing departmental workflows.

Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Operations & AI Workflow Implementation
  • Legal Tech & AI Strategy: Implement and maintain legal technology tools (CLM, intake/ticketing systems, e-signature, contract analytics, and workflow automation platforms).
  • AI & Process Automation: Design, test, and roll out AI-powered workflows and prompts to accelerate contract review, triage incoming legal requests, automate metadata extraction, and improve playbook adherence.
  • Knowledge & Repository Management: Maintain and structure the contract repository, ensure data integrity, and build legal templates, playbooks, and self-service resources for business stakeholders.
  • Metrics & Analytics: Define, track, and report on key legal operations metrics (e.g., contract cycle times, tool adoption, spend, workflow bottlenecks) to inform strategic leadership decisions.
  • Vendor Management & Administrative Support: Review and process outside counsel and vendor invoices, manage department scheduling and meetings, maintain budget records, and provide general administrative assistance to the General Counsel and other team members.
Commercial Contract Negotiation & Lifecycle Management
  • Direct Negotiation: Independently review, draft, redline, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including enterprise SaaS subscription agreements, NDAs, DPAs, order forms, and vendor/procurement contracts.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Procurement, GRC, Finance and other internal teams to align contract terms with business goals and risk tolerance.
  • Escalation Management: Identify edge cases and high-risk terms, appropriately escalating complex legal issues to internal subject matter experts or attorneys with concise context and actionable recommendations.
Compliance Program Management
  • Compliance Assessments: Perform compliance assessments on prospective and existing customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Data Mapping and ESG Reporting: Help with maintaining internal data maps and completing ESG questionnaires for prospective and existing customers and investors.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in legal operations, contract administration, or paralegal roles in a corporate setting (preferably SaaS / B2B Tech).
  • AI & Tech Proficiency: Demonstrated track record of selecting, implementing, and optimizing modern legal tech tools (e.g., GC AI, Sandstone, Docusign, Ironclad, LinkSquares, or other similar CLMs and workflow management systems) and building legal workflows using generative AI / automation tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini).
  • Contract Expertise: Knowledge of commercial contract structures (especially SaaS and professional services), data privacy standards (GDPR/CCPA basics), and intellectual property provisions.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to review and negotiate commercial contracts (especially SaaS and professional services) independently.
  • Adaptable & Hands-On Mindset: Strong organizational skills with a willingness to roll up your sleeves to handle routine administrative duties alongside higher-level projects.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal Certification, JD, or MBA.
  • Notary Public in Massachusetts.
  • Background working in a high-growth, venture-backed, or tech-focused organization.
