Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the General Counsel in New York City and working closely with senior leaders at the company
  • Review and negotiate commercial agreements (publisher and advertiser agreements, including Insertion Orders and the governing terms and conditions)
  • Review and negotiate general contracts, third-party agreements and vendor/supplier relationships
  • Lead on negotiations related to data processing agreements; work with General Counsel and Data Protection Officer to maintain compliance with data handling obligations
  • Update company contract templates to reflect evolving business and legal needs
  • Provide legal counseling to senior management on matters such as business strategic planning, claims and disputes, contracts with suppliers, licenses, and protecting intellectual property
  • Develops and delivers legal compliance and policy training to internal business teams
  • Administers the legal team's matter management and workflow systems (e.g., Jira), optimizing queues, reports, and operational processes.
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization

Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of contract law and commercial agreements
  • Business savvy in media; experience in digital advertising and/or digital media preferred
  • 3+ years experience practicing law highly preferred in either an in-house legal department or law firm
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
  • Experience with privacy, intellectual property, or international law is preferred
  • Hands on, roll-up-your sleeves mentality
  • Sound judgment and strong analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication, organization and prioritization skills
  • Prior experience in advertising or technology is a plus.

*This range represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of adMarketplace in the New York office. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience; training; associated responsibilities; and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
