Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Lead Systems Designer to help drive the vision and implementation of the gameplay systems for Project Sirius — an original video game combining beloved aspects of The Witcher world with immersive multiplayer gameplay.

Reporting to the Design Director, you will define, implement, and maintain the foundational gameplay systems that support the core experience gameplay loop, multiplayer play, and long-term progression. You will work closely with design leadership, narrative, programming, and art to ensure systems reflect The Witcher’s thematic identity while also delivering engaging, scalable multiplayer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the vision and execution of systemic features, including progression frameworks, player economy, multiplayer mechanics, and world-driven systems.
  • Mentor, direct, and guide a team through iteration, balancing, and delivery.
  • Set design standards and documentation practices for systemic features.
  • Define reward structures that are fair in both solo and group play.
  • Work with network engineers and producers to align systemic features with online play requirements and scalability.
  • Partner with narrative to ensure systems reflect Witcher lore and world-building.
  • Work with UI/UX to deliver intuitive, immersive, and thematically consistent interfaces.
  • Collaborate with analytics and QA to evaluate systemic health, player behavior, and balancing needs.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional game design experience, with 3+ years in system design roles.
  • Proven experience designing progression, economies, or multiplayer systems in shipped titles.
  • Prior leadership experience managing or mentoring designers.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with the Witcher universe and its thematic systems (alchemy, crafting, Witcher schools, contracts).
  • Experience on online multiplayer titles.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine (UE5) or comparable development environments.
