Team Summary
Our Medication Management Engineering team builds mission-critical solutions used by over 170,000 healthcare providers every day. We focus on creating seamless and reliable interactions between clinicians and electronic health records, ensuring accurate and timely access to medication information. Our collaborative, mission-driven team is passionate about making a meaningful impact on healthcare outcomes, leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve patient safety and streamline workflows. Essential Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality code within an agile cross-functional team.
- Own and author clear, detailed technical designs that guide implementation and align with architectural standards and business objectives.
- Propose scalable, maintainable solutions and provide reliable estimates for development efforts.
- Write clean, well-tested, and performant code while adhering to established coding standards and best practices.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to uphold engineering excellence.
- Develop strong knowledge of the medication management domain to act as a technical subject matter expert.
- Take ownership of deliverables and coordinate cross-team efforts to ensure successful execution.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the team. Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for software development.
- Engage in cross-team initiatives to enhance overall product quality and performance.
Expected Education & Experience
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, strong product development background.
- Proven experience leading full‑stack development teams, including technical mentoring and design oversight.
- Proficiency in React, modern frontend architecture, core web technologies - HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Java
- Solid experience with relational databases and data modeling.
- Agile development experience with familiarity in Unix/Linux, Perl, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Bonus skills: GraphQL and experience across monolith and microservices architectures.
- Strong communication, ownership, accountability, and a track record of adopting new technologies.
Expected Compensation
$143,000 - $243,000The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
