About the role
Are you a strategic science communicator with a passion for innovative medicines and high‑impact external engagement? Do you excel at translating complex science into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences from leading physicians and researchers at major medical congresses to media, investors, policymakers, and industry stakeholders?
We are seeking a Lead, Scientific & Pipeline Communications (US & Global) to define and elevate Orion Pharma’s external scientific and pipeline communications globally, while supporting media and PR activities in the US market.
This is a first‑of‑its‑kind role at Orion Pharma, based in Boston, MA. The role involves regular international collaboration and periodic travel to Finland and the UK to work closely with global teams. You will report to the VP, Corporate Communications, Brand & Public Affairs and work closely with the Innovative Medicines division and our R&D organization. You will be a core member of Orion’s global Communications, Brand and Public Affairs leadership team.
In this role, you will shape how Orion communicates its science, pipeline progress, regulatory milestones, and future medicines globally ensuring communications are strategically aligned, scientifically credible, compliant, and launch‑ready as the pipeline advances. You will also drive US‑focused PR and media relations in alignment with the global team.

Your key responsibilities
- Lead the global strategy and execution of scientific, pipeline, and regulatory milestone communications, enhancing visibility and understanding among key external stakeholders across priority markets
- Define global scientific communications frameworks and narratives, and guide their effective execution in key markets in close collaboration with local teams
- Serve as a senior member of the global Communications, Brand and Public Affairs team, partnering closely with cross-functional colleagues to ensure alignment across clinical development, regulatory milestones, and future launches
- Drive US media relations and PR activities, in close coordination with global teams, to strengthen Orion’s profile in the US market
- Shape and deliver communication strategies for data disclosures, publications, regulatory milestones, and major medical congresses in full compliance with industry standards
- Design and execute media strategies, including press materials, media engagement, and spokesperson preparation for scientific, corporate, and policy‑related topics
- Anticipate and manage issues and reputational risks related to competitive dynamics, scientific developments, stakeholder expectations, and regulatory considerations
- Support pipeline and therapy area brand and narrative development, articulating clear scientific rationale, value propositions, and key messages for external audiences
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership and scientific teams on external communications, media, and issues
- Manage and collaborate with external agencies and vendors to deliver high‑impact communications and major events

Our expectations
We are looking for an experienced communications leader with a strong scientific foundation and deep understanding of the US pharmaceutical environment.
You bring:
- Extensive experience in scientific communications, external affairs, or corporate communications in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences companies, ideally supporting innovative pipelines from development through launch in the US
- Proven expertise in scientific congress communications and complex pipeline storytelling
- A strong ability to translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear, engaging, and compliant messages for diverse external audiences
- Demonstrated success working cross‑functionally with R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Commercial teams in a global, matrixed organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and the credibility to represent Orion Pharma with senior external stakeholders
- A proactive, collaborative, and solutions‑oriented mindset, with the confidence to operate independently and influence at senior levels
