At WHOOP, we’re on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.

WHOOP is hiring a Lead, Lifecycle Marketing Automation to join our Lifecycle Marketing Operations team within Growth. This individual contributor will help build the technical foundation that powers how WHOOP communicates with members at scale. You will translate lifecycle strategies and business needs into sophisticated, personalized experiences across our marketing technology stack while helping evolve our approach from manual campaign production toward scalable automation and AI-powered workflows.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems at the intersection of marketing, technology, and data. You will help shape how WHOOP uses platforms including Hightouch and Iterable, along with emerging technologies, to orchestrate member communications, enable new channels and markets, improve operational efficiency, and build the next generation of Lifecycle Marketing capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, build, and deploy sophisticated lifecycle experiences across email, push, in-app, SMS, WhatsApp, and emerging channels, translating business requirements into scalable audiences, triggers, journey logic, personalization, and automated workflows.

  • Own hands-on technical campaign development, including complex HTML and CSS email builds, reusable templates and components, responsive email development, and dynamic personalization using Handlebars, Liquid, and other templating logic.

  • Own technical implementation across the Lifecycle Marketing technology stack, including audience activation and segmentation in Hightouch, campaign orchestration in Iterable, SQL-based data validation, integrations, APIs, webhooks, and other technologies that power member communications.

  • Build scalable automation and AI-enabled workflows that reduce manual campaign production, increase execution speed, and improve quality. Explore, evaluate, and operationalize emerging technologies and capabilities, including agentic campaign development, AI-generated content, and automated quality assurance.

  • Establish and continuously improve technical and operational standards across campaign development, quality assurance, data validation, localization, privacy and compliance, troubleshooting, documentation, platform governance, and reusable development practices.

  • Partner closely with Lifecycle Marketing, Product, Engineering, Data, Creative, and other teams to translate complex business and member needs into technical solutions, independently troubleshoot issues, and identify opportunities to create more connected experiences across WHOOP communications and the product.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in lifecycle marketing automation, marketing technology, CRM operations, marketing operations, or a related technical marketing role, with significant hands-on responsibility for building and maintaining automated customer experiences.

  • Deep hands-on experience with a customer engagement or marketing automation platform such as Iterable, Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or a comparable platform, including complex journey orchestration, segmentation, personalization, and multi-channel campaign execution. You understand the underlying principles of marketing automation and can adapt quickly across platforms and technologies.

  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS email-development, including responsive design, reusable templates, troubleshooting across email clients, and building sophisticated dynamic content using Handlebars, Liquid, or comparable templating languages.

  • SQL proficiency and experience working with customer data and audience activation technologies such as Hightouch, Census, Segment, or similar platforms, with a strong understanding of event-driven data, customer attributes, segmentation, and how data moves between systems.

  • Technical experience working with APIs, webhooks, JSON, integrations, and data-driven marketing systems, with the ability to independently investigate and troubleshoot campaign, platform, integration, and data issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for automation and build scalable solutions that reduce repetitive manual work. Experience experimenting with or applying AI, generative AI, or agentic workflows to marketing operations is strongly valued.

  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of taking ambiguous business problems, determining an appropriate technical solution, and independently driving work from solution design through implementation.

  • Strong attention to detail and collaborative communication skills, with experience establishing quality standards and partnering effectively across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Data, Creative, and other cross-functional teams.
