What is this role? 

The Lead Data Analyst (Retail) at Cirkul is a high-impact, visible role responsible for owning retail analytics and delivering cross-functional business insights that fuel Cirkul’s growth. This person will analyze competitor data, retail POS and inventory levels to influence the go to market strategy for our products, develop automated dashboards, forecast demand, and partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Leadership. They’ll evaluate promotions, identify risks and opportunities, support major retail accounts with performance insights, and create reporting that drives faster, smarter decisions across the business. Ultimately, this role turns data into strategy helping teams understand what is happening, why it’s happening, and what to do next.

What does an average day look like?

Driving Results: 

    • Provides actionable, data-driven recommendations that improve business performance.
    • Identifies opportunities for growth, operational efficiency, and margin improvement.
    • Creates reporting that accelerates decision-making instead of slowing it down.

Taking Ownership: 

    • Owns Cirkul’s retail analytics roadmap and proactively improves tools, processes, and insights delivery.
    • Manages projects from problem statements through execution and follow-up.
    • Ensures data is accurate, timely, and consistently understood across teams.

Making Decisions: 

    • Uses data to simplify complexity and guide stakeholders toward clear decisions.
    • Develops forecasting models and scenario analyses to support planning and prioritization.
    • Leverages sound logic and analytical rigor when dealing with ambiguity.

Cultivating Relationships:

    • Acts as the data partner to Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Leadership.
    • Communicates insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Builds trust by being responsive, collaborative, and solution-oriented.

Instilling Trust: 

    • Maintains data confidentiality and accuracy at all times.
    • Provides transparent, unbiased analysis ensuring stakeholders can rely on insights.
    • Demonstrates consistency, reliability, and integrity in all reporting and recommendations.

Customer Focus: 

    • Understands both the retail customer and the end consumer.
    • Identifies trends in shopper behavior, category shifts, competitive movement, and channel performance.
    • Uses insights to elevate the customer experience and drive retailer success.

What background should you have? 

  • 5-7+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data insights roles.
  • Strong background in retail analytics, including POS data, inventory metrics, promotional analysis, and category insights.
  • Experience with retailer tools such as Walmart Scintilla (previously Luminate), Target Partners Online, Kroger 84.51, Nielsen, SPINS, IRI, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel/Sheets, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
  • Strong data storytelling skills and able to turn numbers into clear, concise recommendations.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Ability to manage large datasets, build automated dashboards, and create forecasting models.
  • Experience in CPG, beverage, or other high-velocity retail categories.

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Compensation (including base salary) may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. This role may be eligible for additional discretionary compensation such as bonuses / incentives, and equity. Your Cirkul HR representative can share more specific details for a particular job location during the hiring process.

Annual Base Salary
$110,000$135,000 USD
