Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic thinker to join our team as the Lead AI strategist/Lead Director of Data Science, for a supply chain data science and analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our department, developing business cases for data-driven initiatives, planning, overseeing, and guiding the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) systems into business operations, and effectively communicating the value proposition of our projects to stakeholders. Your strong communication and influencing skills will be key in collaborating with cross-functional teams and building executive-level presentations while working with latest technology products like Azure, GCP and other platforms. Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Thinking: Collaborate with leaders in data science, analytics, and supply chain business to develop the overall strategic direction for the department. Help identify and prioritize strategic initiatives and areas for AI implementation to drive business growth and enhance the company's tech capabilities. Build a roadmap for rolling out AI solutions across the organization.

2. Business Case Development: Utilize your analytical skills to assist leaders in developing comprehensive business cases for new data science and analytics projects including AI deployment. Exploring potential AI use cases and explaining their benefits.

Conduct cost-benefit analyses and identify the potential value proposition of proposed initiatives to support decision-making.

3. Value Proposition Identification: Work closely with the leaders to identify and articulate the value proposition of data science and analytics initiatives to internal stakeholders and executive leadership. Translate complex technical concepts into compelling business cases that demonstrate the impact of data-driven insights on the organization's goals.

4. Communication and Influencing: Serve as a key communicator and influencer, ensuring effective and timely communication between the data science and analytics team and other departments. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment by clearly articulating the benefits and potential business impact of data-driven solutions. 5. Executive Level Presentations: Develop impactful presentations for executive leadership that effectively communicate the strategic initiatives, progress, achievements, and key metrics of data science and analytics projects. Craft compelling narratives and visually appealing content to engage and inform senior executives.

6. Strategic Project Management: Oversee the execution of strategic data science and analytics initiatives. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the identified business objectives.

7. Performance Tracking and Reporting: Develop and implement performance tracking mechanisms to monitor the progress and impact of data science and analytics initiatives. Create regular reports and presentations to communicate progress, achievements, and key metrics to leadership and stakeholders. Monitor progress, manage changes, and evaluate profitability of AI solutions.

8. Process Improvement and working with technical teams: Identify areas of improvement for organizational processes and make recommendations. Evaluate AI technologies to address specific needs. Consider ethical implications of integrating AI capabilities. Create frameworks for AI system deployment and use. Educate and support teams during AI integration.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in developing and executing strategic plans and initiatives. Management Consulting or similar experience in developing comprehensive business cases for data science and analytics projects.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and matrixed teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving strategic analytics/AI initiatives and value realization from programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct cost-benefit analyses and assess the potential ROI of proposed initiatives.
  • Experience in translating technical concepts into business-oriented language to influence decision-making.
  • Prior experience working in data science and analytics or a related field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in fostering collaboration and driving alignment across diverse teams.
  • A deep understanding of business drivers, organizational dynamics, and industry trends in data science and analytics.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and frame the business problem in and analytics context to address organizational challenges.
  • Continuous learning and adaptability: Staying updated with the rapidly evolving AI landscape, emerging trends, and new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Knowledge of programming languages like Python, as well as experience with AI frameworks and tools like TensorFlow and PyTorch preferred.
  • Retail supply chain experience from a top industry player and management consulting firm

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
