Chesapeake Technologies International (CTI) is looking for a Junior Tactical Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME) with advance knowledge of Tactical Assault Kit Servers (TAK Server). This position is in direct support of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency’s TAK network.  As a Tactical Communicator for this contract, you will be a member of a 5-person team spread across 3-separate shifts. These team members will be responsible for remote technical assistance to ICE’s TAK infrastructure and day-to-day maintenance of the TAK ecosystem. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), Tactical Data Link (TDL), Tactical Radio, Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) and federating TAK networks with other federal agencies. This role will require SME support for managing the Agency’s TAK Server’s remotely. As a member of the team, you will ensure the customer has persistent technical assistance 24/7.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency’s cloud TAK Server environments.  
  • Assist with planning and execution of network and server environment upgrades and expansions.
  • Collaborate with the Agency’s engineering and technical staff to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and firmware across an array of network solutions.
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, software, and related capabilities.
  • Configure and manage operating systems (Windows and Linux), applications (commercial and government), networks (IPs, subnets, etc.), and network hardware.
  • Configure and manage distributed authentication services.
  • Ensure system hardware, operating systems, software systems and related procedures adhere to government policies.
  • Assist the government in creating and maintaining network security policies, standards, and monitoring capabilities.
  • Implement and maintain backup operations, disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Manage cloud-based services such as DNS, digital certificates, storage solutions including SAN and NAS, IP based video, phone services and camera services, and network connected end user workstations.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, as required.

Requirements

Location: This position is remote. However, occasional travel will be required to support business needs, including client engagements, team collaboration, training sessions, or field operations. Travel frequency will vary based on project demands and organizational priorities.

Necessary Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years managing and maintaining Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) Server capabilities in operational environments.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience managing Linux-based servers in hybrid cloud environments.
  • Must hold a current CompTIA Security+ (Sec+)
  • Strong technical curiosity and a proactive, security-first mindset.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting the administration, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of tactical communications hardware and systems.
  • Ability to implement and maintain equipment in operational environments with minimal supervision.
  • Must have an active U.S. government Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Beneficial Skills and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in information systems.
  • Collaborative attitude with a “let’s figure it out” approach to problem-solving.
  • Prior experience migrating from on-prem to cloud environments.
  • MS Windows/RHEL administrator certifications, Cloud administrative certifications in AWS.

$100,000$130,000 USD
