American Training is seeking a full-time Job Developer to actively pursue, procure, and maintain employment and volunteer opportunities for Guests through liaison work with local businesses and organizations. Must be knowledgeable of, and demonstrate in all duties, the policies of American Training in the areas of Human Rights and confidentiality and support the mission of American Training of “Bringing out the Best in Everyone we Touch, because Every Life Matters”.


We are looking for a talented individual with a deep commitment to working as part of a skilled team and a true passion for advocating for American Training Guests, to ensure that they are receiving quality services while incorporating our WOW! Magic philosophy.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Secure individual competitive employment for specified number of guests enrolled in CBDS/Employment Services.
  • Develop relationships with business in all three geographic service areas to secure integrated group employment situations to meet contractual obligations as dictated by funding source.
  • Set up career exploration opportunities for guest in the community in conjunction with site managers and mobile CBDS teams.
  • Assist with implementation of specific employment and community related curriculums to assist with successful operation of and “Employment First” CBDS Program.
  • Develop a network of employment sites that allow for individuals to do on-site observation of specific career clusters in accordance with written career plans.
  • Represent American Training Employment services at various networking and community groups. Maximize these groups to produce employment and community integration opportunities for our guests.
  • Direct the implementation of an on-going, interactive and community based Job Club. Develop curriculums, exercises, secure guest speakers, lead activities in all geographic areas to facilitate a vibrant learning based Job Club.
  • Network in the community to secure both individual and group volunteer opportunities for guests that facilitate community membership, skill building and employment preparedness.
  • Develop learning based opportunities for guests in the community to enhance the cultural enrichment portion of the CBDS programming. Work in conjunction with site managers to ensure activities meet needs of individual guests and fit into Mobile CBDS schedules.
  • Works closely with all site managers to ensure that there are integrated, interactive and WOW! Magic fitness experiences that further people’s goals towards employment and a meaningful day.
  • Seek out and secure unique opportunities for guests to not only “go” into their communities but to become recognized and valued members of the community.
  • Adhere to monthly placement goals for job development team. Goals should be reviewed monthly with quarterly indicators of success. If targets not met plans, strategies and resources should be re-aligned to assure success.
  • Develop a professional, technologically sophisticated presentation on our employment services to be shared with funder, families and school systems.
  • Work with site managers, Day Service Director and VP/Director on the development of ATI owned and operated for profit business and guest operated businesses. 
  • Attends all required trainings and meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must have at least three years’ experience in the field. Management, sales or job coach experience preferred. Job Coach/Job Development Experience a plus.Must engage in a continual learning process to ensure we are on the cutting edge of employment services for our population.
  • Ability to advise, exercise good judgment,  make thoughtful decisions and solicit buy in from managers, businesses, community stake holders and colleagues on new ideas and initiatives.
  • Must be able to professionally and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employers, management, Colleagues, Guests/Residents, families, outside vendors, and members of the community
  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Maintains a standard of professionalism in appearance, attitude and ethics
  • Must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position
  • Must be well organized and possess good time management skills
  • Demonstrates skills for conflict resolution, both internal and external
  • Valid driver’s license, the use of a personal vehicle and satisfactory CORI and DDS fingerprinting are required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent walking, standing and sitting
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds
  • Must be able to maintain in a fast paced environment with a high energy level
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry such articles as files and records
  • Must be able to assist in transfers, lifts and personal care assistance
  • Must be able to physically implement First aid/CPR to individuals in response to an emergency situation and/or the implementation of a Crisis plan
  • Frequent short deadlines, changes in work schedule, change in office assignments or assigned tasks given the demands of the position 
  • Work environment frequently hectic, fast-paced with periods of high stress 
  • Must be able to calmly and analytically respond to individual crisis situations
