Job Responsibilities:
Magna is looking for IOT Developer who will be responsible for developing IT/OT integration solutions to support digitizing of production lines and implementing streaming machine controls.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop new techniques to connect legacy equipment to modern infrastructure.
- Integrate sensors, actuators, and gateways with edge hardware.
- Develop and program microcontrollers/sensors
- Manage code deployments, fixes, updates and related processes
- Create IoT applications that run on-premises and in the cloud
- Implement security best practices (TLS, certificate-based auth, OTA firmware updates), manage device provisioning, monitoring, diagnostics, and remote updates.
- Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development and delivery
- Develop KPIs, metrics, and other monitoring tools to track I4.0 production environments
- Work with source control tools (DevOps, GitHub)
- Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering degree in the field of Automation/Electrical/Computer science.
- 6+ years of experience in Industrial automation and IT/OT integration.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and Digital transformation in Industrial automation.
- Proficiency in PLC programming like Siemens and Rockwell controllers among others
- Hands on knowledge in softPLC and experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors and actuators is preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- MQTT, HTTP, CoAP, WebSockets, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, NAT, DHCP
- Understanding of multiple computer programming languages and statistical analysis
- Experience with:
- AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT
- Device provisioning, message brokering, rule engines, and digital twins
- Data streaming and telemetry (e.g., via MQTT or Pub/Sub)
- Knowledge of different project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.
