The Integration and Test Architect will be a part of the R&D organization and an important contributor to the realization of the next generation robotic platform that will change the future of healthcare. You will be a highly visible technical resource working on architecting complex electro-mechanical system integration and test process from requirement establishment, test approach and tool selection, and traceability matrices in close collaboration with Systems engineering, Mechanical engineering, Controls and Software Teams, Reliability, Supply Chain & Manufacturing, and other functions to ensure a harmonized and test plan with sufficient coverage for all level of testing is established. This role is suited for an experienced, R&D lead engineer with a strong track record of test design and definition and implementation for complex electro-mechanical systems, design transfer, and product launch. You will have a great opportunity to lead system integration and test process, define optimal requirement layers, specify verification approach, support development of test tools, and support development of test protocols that pave the path to successful system development and launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design of system integration and test approach from components, PCBAs, subassemblies, assemblies, and subsystem to system level.
  • Derives strategies to detect issues and faults at the appropriate levels of assemblies
  • Works closely with different cross functional teams to generate/refine the appropriate requirements at optimal integration levels
  • Derives strategies for system diagnostics and to monitor system performances matrices
  • Authors/co-authors relevant documents such as integration and test architecture and plans, test protocols, test methods, test reports, analyses, and system documentation
  • Supports a variety of multi-disciplinary technical and process improvement projects of different sizes and scopes
  • Supports establishment of traceability matrices for all levels of requirements

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
