Job Description

Strategy & Consulting

  • Leads 1:1 client discovery and strategy sessions
  • Applies adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to make independent design decisions for assigned projects
  • Designs learning experiences that drive measurable learner engagement, making format and structure recommendations based on content and audience needs
  • Analyzes learner feedback and assessment data to identify gaps and recommend content improvements
  • Contributes instructional expertise to internal project discussions, advocating for design decisions that serve learner outcomes
  • Incorporates feedback from stakeholders and learners to improve content quality
  • Independently researches and evaluates tools, formats, and approaches best suited to each project's learning objectives

Business Development

  • Contributes content samples, prototypes, and design rationale to support proposal development
  • Executes all deliverables within defined SOW scope, flagging scope risks proactively

Content Development & Delivery

  • Owns end-to-end development of assigned learning modules, courses, and programs from design through QA and deployment
  • Develops storyboards, scripts, prototypes, assessments, and final production assets independently and on schedule
  • Manages workload across concurrent projects, communicating capacity and timeline risks proactively to project managers
  • Owns the revision cycle for assigned content — evaluates feedback, exercises design judgment on what to incorporate, and documents rationale for decisions
  • Contributes to shared team standards and drives adoption across the team
  • Contributes to shared team standards by developing reusable templates, style guides, and production documentation

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–4 years of experience in instructional design or learning content development
  • Ability to provide a portfolio demonstrating ownership of eLearning or blended learning projects from design through delivery

Technical Skills

  • Solid knowledge of adult learning principles and ability to apply them independently across varied content types
  • Solid understanding of the learning content development life cycle and ability to execute across all phases with minimal oversight
  • Proficient in Articulate Storyline and Rise; able to produce polished, interactive eLearning without support
  • Proficient in LMS/LXP platforms — independently publishes, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains course content
  • Experience with video recording and editing tools; independently produces and edits learning video content
  • Proficient with SCORM standards; independently manages packaging, testing, and version control
  • Strong instructional design capabilities across multiple modalities (eLearning, video, ILT, job aids)

People Skills

  • Strong client-facing skills — confidently leads discovery, updates, and recommendation meetings with individual clients
  • Strong presentation skills — confidently presents design decisions and rationale to stakeholders and reviewers
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including clear documentation of design decisions, revision rationale, and production notes
  • Ability to translate complex subject matter into accessible, engaging learning content
  • Builds effective working relationships with SMEs, project managers, and Learning Strategists to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Patient and empathetic when supporting learners and stakeholders with varying levels of technical comfort

Additional Desired Skills

  • Association/non-profit sector experience
  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Experience working with AI tools to enhance efficiency
  • Experience in metrics tracking for optimal output of team
  • Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive learning design
