We're the team behind Alphabot®, a new technology that's changing the way America shops. Our automated pickup and delivery systems use a combination of robotics and software to efficiently handle large volumes of online orders, streamlining operations for managers and enhancing the customer experience. We're passionate about robotics, retail, and creating solutions that impact millions of customers daily.

Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to transform complex technical information into engaging and effective learning experiences. In this role, you will collaborate with our engineering and operations teams to develop comprehensive training materials, empowering our internal and external customers to maximize the value of our products.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop technical content and mold it into an optimal format for learning, retention, and action – driving effective behavioral change.
  • Curate and arrange live, recorded, and self-paced training courses that leverage accepted psychological learning concepts.
  • Create content that effectively describes and promotes the team’s vision and mission. This includes computer-based training (CBT), instructor-led training (ILT), awareness campaign plans and tactics, surveys, efficacy measures and other paced content, used across multiple channels to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Use authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Elucidat) to build interactive and visually appealing content.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis regarding learners and contexts.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods to drive behavioral change (including exercises and activities).
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
  • Define the criteria used to judge requirements to drive behavioral change across target audiences.
  • Assist in the development of awareness campaigns and their content with an eye toward engaging users and driving behavioral change.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive material.
  • Measure the effectiveness of training materials and continuously improve them based on learner feedback and performance data.
  • Create additional content and perform administrative work as required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational psychology, Instructional Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience (UX), or a related field, with 5+ years of designing and developing technical training materials, preferably for complex electromechanical products.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and translate them into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Skill in using visual elements (diagrams, illustrations, animations) to enhance learning and clarify complex information.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Elucidat), HTML/CSS and technical documentation tools.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating your instructional design skills.
  • Proficient understanding of educational psychology.
  • Experience with or a desire to learn the cybersecurity/information technology field.
  • Keen eye for detail, spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills to accompany your creative sensibility.
  • Ability to write brief, persuasive, on-task copy, instructional text and audio/video scripts that keep users engaged, reduce errors and confusion, and drive behavioral change.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and how to write for screen readers.
  • Ability to manage tasks both independently and within a team environment.
  • Writing and editing experience in AP Style; must be able to provide content samples.
We offer great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet:
