Implementation Project Manager

We are a growing, dedicated team of financial professionals, mathematicians, financial engineers, software developers working together to transform the field of wealth management. We aim to make portfolio management frictionless, enabling every investor to benefit from levels of customization and tax management that were once the exclusive preserve of ultra-high net worth investors.

We are devoted to doing things right, bringing a fiduciary standard of care to all that we do.

Position Overview

As Smartleaf’s Implementation Project Manager, you will play a critical role in onboarding new client firms, while serving as a subject matter expert and point of contact while providing our clients with a successful and delightful experience.

Your primary objective will be to drive high-impact enterprise onboarding, leading multi-million-dollar FinTech implementations from technical architecture to go-live. You will solve complex data integration, custodial API, and workflow automation challenges alongside financial engineers. You will balance Smartleaf and client objectives while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and executing on a defined project plan.

Success in this role will lead to client implementations being completed on schedule and new clients extracting value from the system right away.

We strongly prefer candidates local to the Boston area. While office attendance is at the discretion of individual teams currently, we do find that onboarding and training greatly benefit from in-person interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, we will be looking for the following:

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field required.

Experience: 5+ years of experience with enterprise SaaS implementations or project management. Prior experience in Financial Services or FinTech and experience with enterprise clients, and high ARR clients is preferred.

Skills: You are organized, a great communicator, able to multitask, can prioritize competing demands to manage your time and responsibilities well.

Characteristics: You are self-sufficient and work well independently. You are also personable and relationship-oriented. You are comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders, including executives.

Trajectory: You are eager to learn and looking for a job with room to grow.

  • Manage the project lifecycle (sales to service transition, planning, execution, monitoring, closure)

  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders

  • Partner with internal specialists to execute on the project plan

  • Set expectations of internal and external stakeholders; hold teams accountable for deadlines and deliverables

  • Continuously report on project status, including progress to plan and hours spent

  • Identify issues and mitigate risks; develop contingency plans as needed

  • Document lessons learned and recommend process improvements

Please note, responsibilities are fluid and can change based on team need. We are looking for a candidate who is adaptable, eager to lend a hand, willing to position themselves as an integral member of the Smartleaf organization, and eager to grow their personal skillset.

If you are in-office...

  • Casual dress code

  • Beautiful office space within a 15-minute walk of 4 subway lines and commuter rail

  • Office shower for bike commuters

  • A stocked kitchen with breakfast and lunch options plus the opportunity to dazzle your coworkers with your barista skills (which is to say, we have an espresso machine!)

  • The team communicates throughout the day via messaging stream (akin to Slack), Google Meet, and Zoom

  • At present, some team members have chosen to be in the office a few days a week while the majority are currently remote

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
